11. Hud /Prophet Hud

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

11:01
Alif. Lam. Ra’
This - Qur’an - is a Divine Book with Clear Injunctions that are distinctly explained.
This is from The One and Only Allah, WHO is All-Wise and All-Knowing of everything,

11:02
proclaiming:
Do not submit in worship to anyone apart from Allah – The One and Only God.
Truly I – Muhammad ibn Abdallah - am designated as a warner as well as a herald of good news to you from HIM.

11:03
And:
Seek forgiveness from your Rabb - The Lord and turn towards HIM in awe and repentance.
Whereupon HE will provide you with best things of life for an appointed period, and
favor those with blessings who are worthy of HIS Grace.
d. But if you turn away, then, I fear for you the punishment of an Awful Time - the Time of Resurrection.

11:04
To Allah, you all have to go back -
for HE Manifests Sovereignty over all creations.

11:05
Look, how they are folding up their hearts trying to hide disbelief and hypocrisy from HIM.
However, even as they wrap themselves up with their outer garments, HE still Knows what they conceal and what they reveal,
for HE Knows full well what lies within their hearts.

11:06
There is not a living creature on the earth but its livelihood is provided by Allah.
And HE Knows its time-limit on earth and habitation and its final resting place -
for everything is recorded in a Clear Book.

11:07
And it is HE WHO created the celestial realm and the terrestrial world in six days/time spans -without a precedent,

and ever since HIS Throne of Almightiness has rested over the waters –
so as to test you to see who among you is the best of conduct.
Yet if you were to tell them:
‘You are certainly going to be resurrected to a new dimension of existence after death.’
Those who disbelieve will certainly say:
‘This is nothing but a clear deception!’

11:08
And if WE postpone the punishment from them for some time, they will surely say in mockery:
‘What is holding it back?’
And yet, the time will actually come upon them, and it will not be held back from them,
and they will be completely surrounded by what they used to mock!

11:09
And when WE give a person a taste of OUR Favors,
and then take it away from him,
he becomes despondent, ungrateful.

11:10
But if WE then give him a taste of OUR Favors after adversity had touched him, he would
merely say:
‘Misfortune has gone from me.’
And then certainly he begins to brag and exult -

11:11
- all except those who persevere and practice righteousness.
It is they - for them will be forgiveness and a great reward.

11:12
Is it, then, conceivable, O The Prophet, that you could set aside or abandon some of what is being revealed on to you just because the disbelievers dislike it?
And, maybe you are disheartened on account of their saying:
‘Why has no treasure been sent down upon him, or an angel accompanying him,’ if it was so, only then we would believe?
But tell them that you are only a warner,
and your duty is only to convey OUR Message, and not to produce what they desire.
Whereas Allah is Guardian over all things.

11:13
Or do they say of the Prophet:
‘He has forged it’ - The Qur’an in the Name of Allah?
Tell them:
‘Then bring ten Surah the like of this, forged,
and call upon to your aid whoever you can, apart from Allah to help you, if you are truthful’
in your allegation.

11:14
Then if they do not respond to you, and they will never ….
then know that this - The Qur’an - is being sent down on to you with Allah’s Knowledge,
and that there can never be any entity of worship apart from HIM.

And say:
‘So will you now submit to HIM in worship and be Muslims?’

11:15
Whoever desires the life of this world, and its glitter and splendor –
WE will pay them in full the reward for their deeds herein,
and they will not be deprived of anything in it.

11:16
Then these - they will have nothing in the Hereafter, other than the Fire!
Whatever they have done here will be useless there,
and whatever they have done here will be absolutely futile there.

11:17
Can such people who have clear proof from their Rabb - The Lord – The Qur’an – and whom a witness from HIM recites it,
as was the Scripture to Moses – as a source of guidance and mercy deny the Qur’an?
They believe in it too, but those factions who do not believe in its truth - the Fire will be their designated place.
So do not be in doubt about it.
In all truth, this is the truth from your Rabb - The Lord – even though most people may not believe it to be so.

11:18
Who could be more evil than the one who fabricates falsehood against Allah?
They are going to be presented before their Rabb - The Lord,
and the angelic-witnesses will say:
‘These are those who fabricated falsehood against their Rabb - The Lord.
Without any doubt, Allah’s curse will befall these unfair people!’

11:19
They are those who hinder people from following Allah’s Path,
and seek to make it crooked,
while they – they are disbelievers in the truth of the realm of the Hereafter.

11:20
Those – they will not escape HIS Punishment on the earth,
and they will have no protectors against HIS Punishment other than Allah.
The punishment in the Hereafter will be multiplied for them,
for they could neither hear the truth nor could see it - because of their extreme aversion to it.

11:21
They are those who have caused loss to their own selves,
and what they fabricated of the entities of worship being a partner with Allah will leave them in anguish.

11:22
a. And, there is absolutely no doubt that it is they who will be the worst losers in the Hereafter.

11:23
On the other hand, those who believe and practice righteousness,
and humble themselves before their Rabb - The Lord –

only they will be the People of Paradise.
They will be therein forever – never to leave, never to die!

11:24
The likeness of the two groups - the disbelievers and the believers - is like the blind and the deaf, and the sighted and the hearing.
Can they be equal in likeness?
No!
Will you then not reflect?

11:25
And WE assigned Noah to his people.
And he said:
O My People!
‘I am a clear warner to you.’

11:26
‘That you submit in worship and awe to no entity apart from Allah.
If you do not do so, I fear for you the punishment of an Awful Time.’

11:27
The notables of those who disbelieved among his people said:
‘We do not see you except that you are a normal human being like us.
And we also do not see those following you any but the worst and most gullible of us.
Also, we do not see that you could be better than us in any way for which you should deserve our following.
In fact, we think you and your followers are liars.’

11:28
He said:
‘O My People!
Have you considered that I have been given a clear sign from my Rabb - The Lord, and
HE has blessed me with Grace of Prophethood from HIMSELF.
However, these are unclear to you, then should we still compel you to accept it while you are so averse to it?’
11:29
‘And O My People!
I am not asking you for any reward for it.
My reward is with Allah.
And I am not going to push away those poor people who believe just because you consider them gullible.
Surely they know they are going to meet their Rabb - The Lord and HE will exact vengeance for them from those who pushed them away.
But I see that you are a naïve people’ – naïve about the consequences of your attitude.

11:30
‘And O My People!
Who will save me from the punishment of Allah, if I pushed them away - the poor followers?
Do you not, then, understand?’

11:31
‘And I do not say to you that I have the Treasures of Allah,
nor that I know the reality which is beyond your senses and perception,
nor do I claim to be an angel.
Nor can I say that Allah will not give any good to those whom your eyes hold in contempt, for Allah knows best what is in their hearts.
However, if I say it, then I will be definitely of the unfair.’

11:32
They - the notables said:
‘O Noah!
You have disputed with us and disputed with us at length - 950 years.
So bring down upon us that punishment you have been threatening us every time, if you are of the honest’ in your claim that punishment will befall us.
11:33
He replied:
‘Only Allah will bring it - the punishment - down upon you, if and when HE so pleases,
and then you will not be able to escape.’

11:34
‘Even if I wish well for you, my well-wishing will not benefit you - if Allah has already
decided to misguide you,
for HE is your Rabb - The Lord, and
to HIM you are to be returned.’

11:35
Or do they allege:
‘He – The Prophet - has fabricated it’ – the narrative of Noah!
Tell them:
‘If I have fabricated it - the narrative of Noah, then my crime will be upon me,
but I am free of the crimes you commit’ when you attribute fabrication to me.

11:36
And it was revealed on to Noah:
‘None of your people are going to believe apart from those who have already believed.
So do not be distressed by what they are doing’ by worshiping entities other than Allah.
11:37
‘And build the Ark under OUR Sight and with OUR Inspiration.
And do not plead with ME for those who have been wicked and willfully disbelieving,
for they are certainly to be drowned’ and doomed.

11:38
So as he was building the Ark,
and whenever notables of his people passed by him, they would scoff at him.
He would say to them:
‘Though you scoff at us now, but a time is going to come when we will scoff at you just as
you are scoffing at us’ now.

11:39
‘And soon you will get to know who it is that has a humiliating punishment, and
who it is that will have a lasting punishment’ -
when we will be saved, and you will be doomed.

11:40
So when OUR Command came for their destruction, and the oven gushed forth to the surface in torrents of water.
WE said:
‘Take into the Ark a pair of male and female of every kind of livestock, and your family –
all except those against whom the sentence has already been passed,
and those who believed.’
However, only a few believed with him.

11:41
And Noah said to his followers:
‘Embark on it by the Blessed Name of Allah - be its sailing and be its mooring.
Surely, my Rabb - The Lord is Oft-Forgiving and Oft-Merciful.’

11:42
Thereafter, it sailed on with them in the midst of waves like mountains.
At that moment Noah called out to his son – Canaan - since he had become separated:
‘O my dear son!
Come and embark with us, and do not be among the disbelievers.’

11:43
Noah’s son Canaan said:
‘I shall climb up and take refuge on a mountain which will protect me from the flooding
water.’
Noah said:
‘There is no savior today for anyone from the Command of Allah, except for those on
whom be HIS Mercy.’
Then tidal waves came between them and he was just another one among the drowned.

11:44
Then it was said:
‘O Earth!
Swallow your water!’
And it started swallowing its water.
‘And, O Sky!
Stop’ your rain!’
And it started stopping its rain.
So the waters from the earth and the sky subsided,
and the Command of Allah was accomplished.
The Ark came to rest upon Mount Judi,
and it was proclaimed:
Away with the people who were evil-doers!’

11:45
Noah then called out to his Rabb - The Lord, saying:
‘O My Rabb - The Lord!
My son - Canaan – is, in fact, of my own family,

and certainly YOUR Promise is true,
and YOU are the Most Fair of all judges.’

11:46
His Rabb - The Lord snubbed and answered:
‘O Noah!
In fact he was no longer a part of your family -
for his conduct had definitely been unrighteous.
So do not ask ME of what you have no knowledge in respect to saving your son.
I caution you not to be of the naïve.’

11:47
Noah was quick in submitting:
O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!
I seek protection with YOU for asking YOU that of which I had no knowledge.
If YOU do not forgive me and have Mercy on me, I will surely be of the losers.’

11:48
It was said:
‘O Noah!
Disembark with peace and safety from US, and with blessings upon you and upon the
downstream communities of those who are with you.
As for some of the unrighteous that will be among your downstream generations, WE will give them the enjoyment of life,
but then a grievous punishment from US will befall them.’

11:49
This is the narrative of something that was beyond your knowledge which WE now reveal on to you – O The Prophet.
You did not know it nor did your people before this.
So be patient in enduring your people’s mockery as did Noah.
Surely, the final outcome will vindicate the Allah-reverent.

11:50
And to the People of ‘Ad, WE assigned their brethren Hud.
He said to them:
‘O My People!
Submit in worship to Allah!
You have no other entity to worship apart from HIM.
As for the entities of your worship, you are only fabricating lies’ that have no reality in themselves.

11:51
‘O My People!
I do not ask you for any reward for it.
My reward is only with HIM WHO created me.
Will you not, therefore, understand?’

11:52
‘Hence, O My People!
Seek forgiveness from your Rabb - The Lord,
and turn to HIM in repentance, awe, and obedience.

Whereupon HE will send down rain for you from the skies in abundance,
and add strength to your strength through wealth and children.
So do not turn away from HIM as ungrateful.’

11:53
They said:
‘O Hud!
You have not brought us any convincing proof of your Prophethood.
So we are not prepared to abandon our entities of worship just because you say so,
and more so as we do not believe in you’

11:54
‘All we can say is that some of our entities of worship may have afflicted you with evil’
thus rendering you insane.
He replied:
‘I call upon Allah to my witness, and even you be witness that I am free of what you ascribe
in divinity and worship to anyone….

11:55
…. apart from HIM.
So do your cunning against me, all of you and give me no respite.’

11:56
‘In fact, I have put my trust in Allah - WHO is my Rabb - The Lord and your Rabb - The Lord.
There is no living creature without HIM having a tight hold on its forelock.
Indeed, my Rabb - The Lord’s Path is a Straight Path.’

11:57
‘So if you turn away, then remember I have conveyed to you the Message I was assigned to you.
Now it might happen that my Rabb - The Lord will make another people take your place,
and you will not harm HIM.
Indeed, my Rabb - The Lord keeps a watch over all things.’

11:58
And thus when OUR Command came, WE saved Hud and those who believed with him,
by OUR Grace,
and saved them from a punishment, most dreadful.

11:59
And that was the end of the tribe of ‘Ad:
they had denied and belied the Message of their Rabb - The Lord, and disobeyed HIS Messengers,
and instead, they followed the command of every arrogant tyrant.

11:60
So they were pursued by a curse in this world, and at the Time of Resurrection, a curse will pursue them too.
Is it not a fact that ‘Ad willfully disbelieved their Rabb - The Lord?
‘Away with Ad’ the People of Hud!

11:61
And to the People of Thamud WE assigned their brethren Saleh.
He said:
‘O My People!
Submit in worship to Allah!
You have no other entity to worship apart from HIM.
It is HE WHO raised you from the earth and made you inhabit it.
So seek forgiveness from HIM for your sinful trespasses and over-indulgence,
then turn to HIM in repentance, awe and obedience.
Surely my Rabb - The Lord is Ever-Near and Ever-Responsive’ to the call of whoever calls unto HIM.

11:62
They said:
‘O Saleh!
You were one among us in whom we had always placed our great hopes of being our leader.
Are you now forbidding us from worshiping what our forefathers worshiped?
In fact, we are in serious doubt about what you are calling us to:’ affirming Allah’s Unshared
Unity, Uniqueness and Divinity.

11:63
Saleh answered:
‘O My People!
Just think: if I was on a clear evidence from my Rabb - The Lord and if HE has now given me Mercy from HIMSELF – i.e., the Prophethood,
then who could protect me against Allah’s Wrath if I disobeyed HIM by giving up the Divine Mission?
Thus if I do what you are desiring from me you would only be adding to my ruin.’

11:64
‘And, O My People!
This is the she-camel of Allah, a specially blessed sign for you.
Therefore, leave it to pasture on Allah’s land.
And do not touch it by any harm, lest a swift punishment should seize you.’

11:65
But they ignored Saleh’s warning and maimed and savagely disabled her.
Thereupon Saleh said:
‘Enjoy yourselves in your homes for the next three days – and then you are going to be destroyed.
And that is a promise which will not be proved wrong!’

11:66
So when OUR Command of punishment came upon them,
WE saved Saleh and those who believed with him, through OUR Mercy, and from the disgrace of that time.
Surely your Rabb - The Lord - HE is the Almighty, HE is the All-Powerful.

11:67
And the Mighty Blast seized those who were unjust to themselves by doing what was evil,
and the next morning found them leveled lifeless in their very homes.

11:68
It looked as if they had never lived therein before.
Is it not a fact that Thamud willfully disbelieved in their Rabb - The Lord?
So away with Thamud!

11:69
And certainly, OUR angelic-messengers brought Abraham the good news.
They said:
‘Salam!’
Abraham answered:
‘Salam!’
And he did not delay in bringing them a roasted calf.

11:70
But when he noticed their hands not reaching for it, he became suspicious of them and began to feel fear of them.
They noted his fear and said:
‘Do not fear!
In fact, we have been heavenly assigned for the People of Lot’ to destroy them.

11:71
And his wife just standing there, and
she laughed as WE gave her the good news of Isaac, and
after Isaac of a grandson Jacob - whom they would live to see.

11:72
She said:
‘Woe to me!
Am I to give birth - when I am an old woman, and my husband here is an old man too?
That would be something amazing, indeed!’

11:73
Angelic-messengers said:
‘Are you amazed at Allah’s Power?
Allah’s Mercy and HIS Blessings be upon you, O members of this household!
Surely, HE is All-Praised and All-Glorious.’

11:74
And when the fear had left Abraham, and the good news of a child had come to him,
he began to plead with US concerning the People of Lot.

11:75
In fact, Abraham was, by nature, tolerant, kind,
and always turning to his Rabb - The Lord in awe, repentance and reverence.

11:76
They said:
‘O Abraham!
Turn away from this – stop this pleading!
The Command of your Rabb - The Lord for their destruction has already come -
the punishment is coming upon them which cannot be averted.’

11:77
So when OUR angelic-messengers came to Lot in the metropolis of Sodom and Gomorrah,
he became worried about them/their safety,
and felt powerless to protect them from the wicked people.
So he said within himself in dismay:
Oh - ‘This is definitely a very tough time!’

11:78
And his people came to him, rushing in haste by their lust,
for they had been addicted to this sin of sodomy already.
Lot made a plea:
‘O My People!
My daughters are here.
They would be more appropriate/pure for you.
So fear Allah.
And do not disgrace me by sodomizing my guests.
Is there not even one among you of right mind to enjoin decency and forbid indecency?

11:79
They said:
‘You know very well that we have no interest and need for your daughters.
And certainly, you know very well what we want’ - to have your male guests.

11:80
Lot screamed in helplessness:
‘I wish I had some power to keep you away,
or else I could lean upon a powerful support.’

11:81
Noting the anxiety of Lot, the angelic-messenger disclosed:
‘O Lot!
In fact, we are the angelic-messengers of your Rabb - The Lord.
Do not worry.
We are your group, and we are strong and powerful.
They will never be able to reach you and cause you or us any harm.
So move out of the city with your family in the course of the night,
and let none of you look back.
However, your wife will remain behind -
she is going to be afflicted with what is about to afflict them – The People of Sodom and the adjoining four metropolises.
Their appointed time will be the morning.
Lot said that he wished the punishment should come sooner.
The angelic-messengers comforted him and said:
‘Is not the morning close at hand?’

11:82
And so when OUR Command for their destruction came,
WE turned the sinful habitations upside down: made its highest part into the lowest.
And WE rained down upon them a torrent of stones of baked clay – continuously, ranged one after another.

11:83
Stones of baked clay were designated by your Rabb - The Lord to punish those lost in sin.
And such a punishment is never far from those lost in such a sin.

11:84
And to the People of Midian WE assigned their brethren Sho’ayb.
He said:
‘O My People!
Submit in worship to Allah!
You have no entity to worship apart from HIM.
And do not give in short measure nor under-weigh.
I see you are prosperous in this way, but, in fact, I fear that you will be punished at an overpowering time’ for your disbelief and fraudulent commercial dealings.

11:85
‘O My People!
Always fill up the measure and the scale with justice,
and do not withhold things due to people,
and do not act wickedly in the land by corrupted business practices.’

11:86
The fairly-earned profits that Allah has left for you after giving the rightful to people is better for you if you are true believers.
However, I am not a warden over you.’
I am sent only as a warner.

11:87
They answered mockingly:
‘O Sho’ayb!
Does your prayer demand that we abandon what our forefathers worshiped?
Or that we should restrain from doing what we please with our business, profits, and wealth?
Oh, you – you certainly sound like the only tolerant and right-minded’ person in the world.

11:88
Sho’ayb said:
‘O My People!
What if I am acting on a clear sign from my Rabb - The Lord, who has provided me with good livelihood through honest trade dealings as a bounty from HIMSELF?
And I do not wish to be inconsistent in what I forbid you and do the same myself.
My only desire is to improve your business ethics/practices and lives as much as I can.
Indeed, my success in achieving my mission cannot come except from Allah.
I trust in HIM, and to HIM I always turn’ for guidance.

11:89
‘And, O My People!
Let not your opposition to me drive you into sin and bring upon you a fate similar to what befell
the People of Noah, or
the People of Hud, or

the People of Saleh, and
the People of Lot
are not very far from you.’

11:90
‘Hence, seek forgiveness from your Rabb - The Lord for the sins you have committed by duping your customers, and
turn to HIM in awe and repentance.
And once you have done this, you will find that my Rabb - The Lord is indeed All-
Compassionate, All-Loving.’

11:91
They said:
‘O Sho’ayb!
We do not even understand much of what you say.
However, we definitely see you as the weakest among us.
And were it not for your family’s connections exercising considerable social clout, we would have already stoned you,
considering that you – as an individual – are not powerful for us.’

11:92
He - Sho’ayb - said:
‘O My People!
Is then my family’s influence more powerful to you than Allah’s Power?
And you neglect HIM and push HIM behind your backs for not being mindful of HIM/HIS Power?
Surely my Rabb - The Lord Encompasses whatever you do’ and HE will call you to account for it.

11:93
‘And, O My People!
Do me whatever you can.
Surely I am going to do what I can, likewise.
You will soon know who will have the humiliating punishment, and who is a liar,
just wait and watch what will be coming as a consequence of your conduct!
Surely I too will be waiting and watching with you.’

11:94
And when OUR Command came for their destruction,
WE saved Sho’ayb and those who believed with him by OUR Grace,
but those who were wicked were seized by the Roaring Blast of OUR Punishment,
and they lay lifeless overturned in their very homes by the morning.

11:95
It looked as if they had never lived there.
So away with Midian as away with Thamud.

11:96
And certainly WE assigned Moses with
OUR nine Miraculous Wonders, and
a clear mandate -

11:97
to Pharaoh and his courtiers.
But they followed only Pharaoh’s orders,
though Pharaoh’s orders were not the most rational for them to follow.

11:98
And so Pharaoh is going to be at the head of his people during the Time of Resurrection,
and then lead them into the Fire.
And terrible indeed is the place to which they will be led!

11:99
And they were pursued by a curse in this world,
and will be overtaken by it at the Time of Resurrection.
What an awful gift they will be gifted!

11:100
These are from the narratives of ancient communities and habitations that WE recount to you – O The Prophet.
Some of these habitations still exist, while others have already been extinct, like a field
mowed down.

11:101
And WE were not unfair to them,
but they were unfair to themselves.
All their entities of worship, whom they used to call upon apart from Allah, were of no
benefit to them at all,
and when the Command of your Rabb - The Lord came for their punishment,
they only added to their destruction.

11:102
Such is the Seizure of your Rabb - The Lord when HE decides to Seize a community that is sinful.
Surely, HIS Seizure is the most painful and most terrible.

11:103
Surely in that is a lesson for whoever fears the punishment which may befall them in the Hereafter.
That will be the Time of Resurrection when the people will be gathered together,
and it will be the Time witnessed by all.

11:104
a. And WE are deferring it only for a time predetermined.

11:105
When that Time comes, no one will be allowed to speak except by HIS Permission,
and of those that are gathered together, some of them will be miserable, and some esteemed.

11:106
As for those who are miserable, they will be in the Fire.
Where there will be nothing but moaning and wailing for them.

11:107
Remaining therein – for ever - so long as the heavens and the earth endure, unless your Rabb - The Lord Wills it otherwise – to reprieve them.
Surely your Rabb - The Lord accomplishes whatever HE Wills.

11:108
But as for those who are esteemed by virtue of their past deeds will be in Paradise.
Remaining therein – for ever - so long as heavens and earth endure, unless your Rabb - The Lord Wills it otherwise.
Surely your Rabb - The Lord accomplishes whatever HE Wills: an unending an uninterrupted gift.

11:109
So do not be in any doubt about what these misguided people worship.
They worship nothing but as their forefathers worshiped before – they only follow blindly.
Surely, WE will pay them their share of suffering in full for whatever good or evil they have earned, without any reduction.

11:110
And, indeed, similar was the case when WE gave Moses the Book – The Torah - but then differences arose about it among some of his people.
And were it not for a Preceding Word from your Rabb - The Lord, it would indeed have been settled between them in this world.
In fact, they had grave doubts and misgivings about it.

11:111
And, surely to each and every one of them - your Rabb - The Lord will reward in full for their deeds, speech and dealings.
Surely, HE is All-Aware of everything they are doing.

11:112
O The Prophet!
So remain steadfast and pursue the right course as you have been commanded -
both you and those with you who turn to Allah for guidance.
And do not let anyone overstep the limits of Allah’s Injunctions,
for, surely, HE is All-Watchful of everything you are doing.

11:113
And do not lean towards those who do evil, through affection or adulation, or else you will be caught in the Fire too,
then you would neither have anyone to protect you against Allah’s Punishment – nor you will ever be helped.

11:114
And establish the Salat/Prayer at the two ends of the daytime and at the approach of the nighttime.
Indeed good deeds - such as the daily Mandatory Prayers - take away the bad ones.
This is a reminder for the mindful.

11:115
And be patient.
Surely, Allah would never let the reward of those who are patient and do good go to waste.

11:116
If only there had been persons of righteousness and virtue among the generations WE destroyed before you,
who could speak out against the spread of corruption on the earth,
other than just the few WE saved from corruption among them.
But those who did evil only pursued a life of ease and plenty and were criminals.

11:117
a. Yet your Rabb - The Lord would not destroy any community unfairly so long as the people were righteous in speech, deeds, and dealings with one another.

11:118
But if your Rabb - The Lord had so pleased, HE could indeed have made all people into one single community of belief.
But HE willed it otherwise, and so they continue to differ from one another,

11:119
except for those on whom your Rabb - The Lord has bestowed HIS Mercy: and that is why HE created them to be this way.
And thus the Word of your Rabb - The Lord will have been fulfilled:
‘I will definitely fill up Hell to the brim with both the jinn and the human – all’ of those deserving it.

11:120
The purpose of everything that WE recount to you – O The Prophet - from the narratives of the earlier Messengers is to strengthen your heart.
And by this way, the truth comes to you, as well as guidance, and reminders for the believers.

11:121
And say to those who do not believe:
‘Do whatever of the cunning you can,
while we will also do’ whatever we can, likewise.

11:122
Just ‘wait and watch what is to come!
Surely we will also be waiting’ and watching to see.

11:123
And to Allah belong the secrets of the celestial realm and the terrestrial world,
and to HIM the matters – all of it - will be returned for judgment and award.
So submit in worship to HIM!
And trust in HIM – rely on HIM!
Your Rabb - The Lord is never Unaware of what you are doing.
