26. Al-Shu’ara’/The Poets

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

26:01
a. Ta. Sin. Mim.
26:02
a. These are the Messages of the Clear Book - The Qur’an.
26:03
a. O The Prophet!
b. Perhaps you are going to destroy yourself with worry and grief just because they are not becoming believers.
26:04
a. If WE are to wish, WE can send down on them an Overpowering Sign from the heaven,
b. so that their necks/heads – pride and arrogance - will be forced to bow before it in
absolute humility and submission.
26:05
a. But WE have not wished it to be so,
b. thus whenever a new Message would come to them from the Immensely Merciful,
c. they would turn away in aversion from it.
26:06
a. Thus, indeed, they deny and belie it – The Qur’an;
b. but the truth of what they ridicule will come to haunt them in due course.
26:07
a. They demand a miracle while ignoring numerous miraculous signs of nature Allah has placed all around them; for example,
b. do they not observe the earth, how many of the beautiful pairs of useful vegetation, WE have made to grow on it?
26:08
a. Surely in this is a miracle,
b. yet most of them do not believe in these miracles.
26:09
a. And, your Rabb -The Lord – HE indeed is the Almighty to punish anyone for arrogance against the Truth, and yet the Compassionate especially to the reverent.

26:10
a. And remember when your Rabb - The Lord called out to Moses saying:
b. ‘Go to the people who are unjust ….

26:11
a. ‘the People of Pharaoh.
b. Will they not be mindful’ of ME as Rabb - The Lord of all existence?

26:12
a. He - Moses - submitted:
b. O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!
c. In fact, I am afraid they may belie me.

26:13
a. ‘And my heart will be stressed, and, furthermore,
b. my tongue/speech will not be fluent to convey the Message with the right fluency,
c. So send for Aaron.

26:14
a. ‘Moreover, they have a charge of a criminal offence against me,
b. thus, I fear, they may slay me.’

26:15
a. HE assured:
b. ‘Certainly not!
c. Go, both of you, with OUR Miracles.
d. Indeed, WE are going to be with you, listening and witnessing all.

26:16
a. So both of you go to Pharaoh.
b. And proclaim:
c. ‘Indeed, we are the Messengers assigned by Rabb - The Lord of all existence.

26:17
a. Release Descendants of Jacob from bondage and suffering, and
b. Allow Descendants of Jacob to go with us.’

26:18
a. He - Pharaoh reminded Moses by saying:
b. ‘Did we not raise you among us as a child?
c. And did you not remain among us for some years of your life?

26:19
a. ‘And yet you committed the criminal deed which you committed by killing one from among us for no fault of his,
b. thus you were of the ungrateful’ toward those who raised you.

26:20
a. He - Moses accepted his fault and replied:
b. ‘I was of the naïve when I did it not realizing that it would end up in the way it did.

26:21
a. ‘Then I fled from you to Midian when I feared you.

b. Since then my Rabb - The Lord has granted me maturity and wisdom,
c. and has also chosen me to be one of HIS Messengers.

26:22
a. Moses continued:
b. ‘And as for that favor to me that you raised me in your palace as a child and that I spent many years with you –
c. was it not just because you have been keeping Descendants of Jacob in bondage?’

26:23
a. Pharaoh changed the subject and asked:
b. ‘And what and who is this Rabb - The Lord of all existence’ of whom you speak?

26:24
a. He - Moses - answered:
b. HE is ‘Rabb - The Lord of the celestial realm and the terrestrial world, and all that is between them and beyond if you would be convinced.’

26:25
a. He - Pharaoh - said mockingly to those courtiers around him:
b. ‘Do you not hear’ what he says, which was never heard of before?

26:26
a. He - Moses - continued by stressing another Divine Attribute:
b. HE is also ‘your Rabb - The Lord and Rabb - The Lord of your forefathers from the long past.’

26:27
a. He - Pharaoh - exclaimed:
b. See!
c. This ‘messenger of yours who has been sent to you, is definitely possessed.’

26:28
a. Ignoring Pharaoh’s taunt, he - Moses went on to say:
b. HE is indeed ‘Rabb - The Lord of the East and the West, and whatever is between the two, if you would only understand.’

26:29
a. He - Pharaoh - threatened:
b. ‘If you ever take any entity, other than me, for worship,
c. I will definitely make you of those imprisoned!’

26:30
a. He - Moses sought clarification by asking:
b. Will you still have me imprisoned ‘even if I were to bring you something undeniable’ to prove the truth of my Mission?

26:31
a. He - Pharaoh - said:
b. ‘Bring it, then, if you are really of the truthful’ in your claim.

26:32
a. So Moses cast down his staff,

b. and, suddenly, it became a real huge snake.
c. That was the first evidence of the Truth.

26:33
a. Then he drew out his right hand, and suddenly, it became glowing white, for all to see.

26:34
a. He - Pharaoh - whispered to the courtiers around him:
b. ‘This is certainly a skillful magician.’

26:35
a. ‘He plans to drive you and me out of your country with his magic,
b. so what do you recommend’ me to do?

26:36
a. They said:
b. ‘Leave him and his brother by themselves for a while;
c. in the meantime, send out searchers to the cities across the country,

26:37
a. to bring you every skillful magician.’

26:38
a. So the magicians were brought together for an encounter with Moses at the appointed time
on a day well-known to all.

26:39
a. And the people were asked:
b. ‘Are you all going to gather together’ here to watch the encounter?

26:40
a. ‘And we are expecting that the magicians will triumph, and we can all reaffirm our faith’
in our master Pharaoh.

26:41
a. So when the magicians arrived, they first asked Pharaoh:
b. ‘Will there be a reward for us if we prevailed?’

26:42
a. He said:
b. ‘Yes, of course.
c. You are definitely going to be among those near’ to me.

26:43
a. Moses said to them:
b. ‘Cast down whatever you are going to cast’ down!

26:44
a. So they cast down their strings and their sticks, saying:
b. ‘By the majesty of Pharaoh!
c. We are definitely going to prevail.’

26:45
a. Then Moses cast down his staff, and suddenly it became a supernaturally large-sized snake,
b. it began swallowing up the trickery they had fabricated.

26:46
a. This stunned everyone watching the encounter.
b. And the magicians fell down, prostrating.

26:47
a. And they proclaimed:
b. ‘We believe in Rabb - The Lord of all existence -

26:48
a. Rabb - The Lord of Moses and Aaron.’

26:49
a. He - Pharaoh was shocked, and he screamed:
b. What! ‘Have you surrendered and believed in him - even before I should have given you the permission?
c. Surely, you have conspired against the system and this must have been your master/leader, who has taught you the magic.
d. But you will soon know my revenge and your fate.
e. I shall have your hands and your feet cut off from opposite sides, and then definitely crucify all of you.’

26:50
a. They responded:
b. That will do us ‘no harm.’
c. We are not going back from our conviction/faith.
d. Even when we are crucified ‘we are, for sure, going back to our Rabb’ - The Lord.

26:51
a. ‘In fact, we eagerly hope that our Rabb - The Lord will forgive us our sinful trespasses for having practiced magic and challenged the Truth,
b. as we are now first of the believers’ from among the Pharaohites.

26:52
a. Then events developed to the point that WE revealed on to Moses, saying:
b. ‘Leave with MY servants by night.
c. You are definitely going to be chased.’

26:53
a. Pharaoh got information of the Descendants of Jacob plans to escape.
b. So Pharaoh sent out searchers to the cities -
c. to mobilize public support and bring in volunteers to confront the escaping Descendants of Jacob.

26:54
a. When the volunteers had been gathered from across the country, Pharaoh said to them:
b. ‘These people are only a small group,

26:55
a. but they have defied us and this has definitely infuriated us.
26:56
a. Now we are all assembled’ and vigilant - well prepared and well-equipped to crush them.
26:57
a. Thus, WE brought them – Pharaoh and his followers - out of their gardens and springs –
life of comfort and luxury,
26:58
a. and from treasures and honorable positions and prestigious dwellings.
26:59
a. Thus it was.
b. And, later, WE made Descendants of Jacob survive and inherit the same kind of bounties.
26:60
a. And they - the Pharaoh’s army – chased and caught them up – Descendants of Jacob - at sunrise.
26:61
a. And when the two groups saw each other, the Followers of Moses got frightened and
screamed:
b. ‘Surely we are being caught up.’
26:62
a. He - Moses - assured them:
b. ‘Certainly not!
c. For my Rabb - The Lord is definitely with me, and HE will guide me’ to safe, secure place across the Red Sea.
26:63
a. So WE revealed on to Moses, saying:
b. ‘Strike the sea with your staff.’
c. And he struck it.
d. Whereupon it parted, and each part became like a towering mountain on both sides with a passage in-between.
e. And Descendants of Jacob rushed to cross over.
26:64
a. And then, at the same time, WE brought the others – Pharaoh and his army who were chasing them – closer to that place across the same paths.
26:65
a. And WE saved Moses and whoever were with him, all together;
26:66
a. while WE drowned the others by closing the sea on them as they were rushing through the passage in-between the two towering mountains of seawater.
26:67
a. Surely, in this is a great sign – a miracle as well as a lesson of history - for those who think
and reflect;

b. even then most of them are not believers.

26:68
a. And, your Rabb - The Lord – HE indeed is the Almighty to punish anyone for arrogance against the Truth, and yet the Compassionate especially to the reverent.

26:69
a. And now relate to them some of the narrative of Abraham.

26:70
a. Remember when he asked his father and his people:
b. ‘What is it that you worship?’

26:71
a. They answered:
b. ‘We worship idols/statues, and we are ever devoted in reverence to them.’

26:72
a. He said:
b. ‘Do you really think that they hear you when you call on them?

26:73
a. Or, do they benefit you when you worship them, or harm you when you do not?

26:74
a. Implicitly acknowledging that these cannot hear, and bring no benefit or harm, they said:
b. ‘No.
c. But we found our forefathers doing like this.’

26:75
a. He asked:
b. ‘So have you really considered about what you have been worshiping …...

26:76
a. you and your forefathers who have passed long before you?

26:77
a. Abraham continued:
B. ‘In fact, they - all that you worship - are enemies to me, and I do not worship them;
c. but I worship only Rabb - The Lord of all existence.’

26:78
a. And it is HE ‘WHO created me, and HE guides me’ to whatever is to my benefit.

26:79
a. ‘And it is HE WHO provides me food, and gives me drink.

26:80
a. ‘And when I fall ill, it is HE WHO heals me.

26:81
a. ‘And it is HE WHO will make me die, and
b. then bring me to life in a new dimension of existence at the Time of Resurrection.

26:82
a. ‘And it is also HE WHO - I am eager - will forgive me of my over-indulgences during the Time of Final Judgment.’

26:83
a. Abraham then prayed:
b. O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!
c. Grant me wisdom, sound judgment, and unite me with the righteous.

26:84
a. ‘And grant me a virtuous reputation - as one who stood for the truth - among later
generations.

26:85
a. ‘And make me among the inheritors of the Paradise of Bliss!

26:86
a. ‘And forgive my father -
b. for he has been definitely of the misguided.

26:87
a. ‘And do not disgrace me by letting me see my father among the condemned during the Time when they are to be resurrected in a new dimension of existence.

26:88
a. ‘The Time when no amount of wealth and worldly riches or children and social status will
benefit them,

26:89
a. except for the one who comes to Allah- The One and Only God of everyone - with a devoted heart.

26:90
a. And at that Time the life of the Paradise will be brought near for the righteous: the ones with devoted heart;

26:91
a. and blazing fire of the Hell will be made to come in full view of the misguided/the disbelievers.

26:92
a. And they will be asked:
b. ‘Where are those entities that you used to worship ….

26:93
a. … apart from Allah?
b. Can they help you now or even help themselves?’

26:94
a. And then they will be tossed headlong into it – the blazing fire – and
b. they and those who misguided them,

26:95
a. and the forces of Iblees/evil, too, all together.

26:96
a. And there, as they are going to bicker among themselves and blaming each other in it, they will say to their worshipful entities:

26:97
a. ‘By Allah!
b. We were obviously misguided by you,

26:98
a. when we held you equal in worship and obedience to Rabb - The Lord of all existence,

26:99
a. and no one misguided us into believing the falsehood except you - the wicked criminals.’

26:100
a. And now we have no intercessor on our behalf,

26:101
a. and no sympathetic friend to help us out.

26:102
a. If only we could have another chance to go back to worldly life, we would definitely be
among the believers.’

26:103
a. Surely in all this is an important lesson for those who think and reflect;
b. yet most of them are not going to be believers.

26:104
a. And, your Rabb - The Lord – HE indeed is the Almighty to punish anyone for arrogance against the Truth, and yet the Compassionate especially to the reverent.

26:105
a. And, the People of Noah, too, belied and denied Noah as well as the other Messengers.

26:106
a. Remember when their brethren Noah said to them:
b. ‘Would you not fear Allah’s disobedience’ and be reverent to HIM?

26:107
a. ‘I am, for sure, a trustworthy Messenger assigned by Allah to you.

26:108
a. ‘So, fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM;
b. and obey me in Divine Teachings.

26:109
a. ‘And I am not asking you any reward for this advocacy.
b. My reward is only from Rabb - The Lord of all existence.

26:110
a. ‘So, fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM;
b. and obey me’ in Divine Teachings.

26:111
a. They said:
b. So how could we and ‘why should we believe in you, when it is only the lowest of the low
class of people that are following you?’

26:112
a. Noah said:
b. ‘What do I know about what they were doing before becoming believers?

26:113
a. ‘Nevertheless, their accountability is only with my Rabb - The Lord, if you could
understand.

26:114
a. ‘And I am not going to push away the believers,

26:115
a. for I am only a clear warner’ against disobedience of Allah’s Message!

26:116
a. They warned:
b. ‘O Noah!
c. If you do not stop your advocacy,
d. you will surely be of those who are stoned.’

26:117
a. Whereupon he - Noah - prayed:
b. O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!
c. I have preached to my people for long years –but
d. my people have vehemently denied and belied me.

26:118
a. ‘So decide between me and them,
b. and save me from the upcoming punishment and those who are with me from among the believers.’

26:119
a. So WE saved him from OUR Punishment, and those with him, in the loaded Ark,

26:120
a. and, then, WE drowned all those who were left out.

26:121
a. Surely in this is a/an important lesson for a people who think and reflect,
b. yet most of them are not believers.

26:122
a. And, your Rabb - The Lord – HE indeed is the Almighty to punish anyone for arrogance against the Truth, and yet the Compassionate especially to the reverent.

26:123
a. The People of `Ad, too, belied and denied Prophet Hud and other Messengers.

26:124
a. Remember when their brethren Hud said to them:
b. ‘Will you not fear Allah’s disobedience’ and be reverent to HIM?

26:125
a. ‘I am, for sure, a trustworthy Messenger assigned by Allah to you.

26:126
a. ‘So, fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM,
b. and obey me in Divine Teachings.

26:127
a. ‘And I am not asking you any reward for this advocacy.
b. My reward is only with Rabb – The Lord of entire existence.

26:128
a. ‘How can you build a landmark/monument on every high place frivolously while you do not live in them?

26:129
a. ‘Furthermore, is it that you make for yourselves fortresses/castles – glorifying your riches, hoping to live in there forever?’

26:130
a. ‘And when you assault, to smite or slay, you assault mercilessly as tyrants.

26:131
a. ‘So, fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM,
b. and obey me in Divine Teachings.

26:132
a. And fear disobedience of the One WHO has so amply provided you with everything of life
that you think of,

26:133
a. ‘amply granted you with all means of sustenance and pride like livestock and children,

26:134
a. ‘and gardens and springs.’

26:135
a. ‘In fact, I fear for you the punishment of an Awful Time.’

26:136
a. They answered with gross indifference:
b. It is all ‘the same for us whether you preach or you are not of those who preach.

26:137
a. ‘This preaching and advocacy of yours is nothing but the fabrications of the ancient.

26:138
a. ‘Anyway we are never going to be punished.’

26:139
a. Thus, they belied and denied him.
b. So WE destroyed them.
c. Surely, in this is an important lesson for those who think and reflect,
d. yet most of them are not believers.

26:140
a. And, your Rabb - The Lord – HE indeed is the Almighty to punish anyone for arrogance against the Truth, and yet the Compassionate especially to the reverent.

26:141
a. The People of Thamud, too, denied and belied Messengers like the ‘Ad.

26:142
a. Remember when their brethren Saleh said to them:
b. ‘Will you not fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM?

26:143
a. ‘I am, for sure, a trustworthy Messenger assigned by Allah for you.

26:144
a. ‘So, fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM,
b. and obey me in Divine Teaching.

26:145
a. ‘And I am not asking you any reward for this advocacy.
b. My reward is from Rabb - The Lord of all existence.

26:146
a. ‘Will you be left secure forever in what you have here regardless of whatever you are doing,

26:147
a. ‘amid these gardens and springs…..

26:148
a. ‘and in these farms and date palms laden with heavy bunches?

26:149
a. ‘And will you continue to hew houses in the mountains with great pride in your skill?

26:150
a. ‘So, fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM,
b. and obey me in Divine Teachings.

26:151
a. ‘And do not follow the orders of those who are wasteful and commit excesses;

26:152
a. ‘it is they who spread chaos in the land, and
b. it is they who do not set things right.’

26:153
a. They said:
b. O Saleh!
c. ‘You are surely one of the bewitched!

26:154
a. You are but a human being like us.
b. ‘Bring us a miracle if you are of the truthful in claiming Divine Messengership.

26:155
a. He - Saleh - said:
b. ‘Here is a she-camel as a miracle:
c. one day to her a drink of water as a right, and one day to you – your livestock - a drink of water as a right, on a reserved day for each.

26:156
a. ‘And do not touch her with harm/evil intent,
b. lest you are seized by the punishment of an awful time.’

26:157
a. But taking no heed of this warning they maimed and savagely killed her,
b. although – as a consequence - they came to regret.

26:158
a. Consequently, the punishment seized them.
b. Surely in this narrative is an important lesson for those who think and reflect;
c. yet most of them are not believers.

26:159
a. And, your Rabb - The Lord – HE indeed is the Almighty to punish anyone for arrogance against the Truth, and yet the Compassionate especially to the reverent.

26:160
a. The People of Lot, too, belied and denied their Messengers like ‘Ad and Thamud.

26:161
a. Remember when their brethren Lot said to them:
b. ‘Will you not fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM?

26:162
a. ‘I am, for sure, a trustworthy Messenger for you.

26:163
a. ‘So, fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM,
b. and obey me in Divine Teachings.

26:164
a. ‘And I am not asking you any reward for this advocacy.
b. My reward is only from Rabb - The Lord of all existence.

26:165
a. Unlike other people in the world, do you lust after males?’

26:166
a. ‘And leaving aside your spouses that your Rabb - The Lord has created and made lawful
for you!
b. In fact, you are a people who transgress’ all limits of righteousness and decency.

26:167
a. They threatened:
b. ‘Unless you stop what you are saying, O Lot,
c. you will, most certainly, be driven out’ from our land.

26:168
a. He said:
b. ‘Surely I am of those who detest what you are doing.’

26:169
a. And then Lot prayed:
b. O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!
c. Save me and my family from the consequences of what they are doing.’

26:170
a. So WE saved him and his family, all of them -

26:171
a. except for the old woman
b. she was among those who remained behind for the punishment.

26:172
a. Then WE destroyed the rest.

26:173
a. And WE poured down upon them a devastating shower of stones.
b. Dreadful indeed was the downpour that fell upon those who had been warned!

26:174
a. Indeed, in this is an important lesson,
b. yet most of them are not believers.

26:175
a. And, your Rabb - The Lord – HE indeed is the Almighty to punish anyone for arrogance against the Truth, and yet the Compassionate especially to the reverent.

26:176
a. The People of Aykah belied and denied Messengers like ‘Ad, Thamud and People of Lot.

26:177
a. Remember when Sho’ayb said to them:
b. ‘Will you not fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM,
c. and obey me in Divine Teachings?

26:178
a. ‘I am, for sure, a trustworthy Messenger assigned by Allah for you.

26:179
a. ‘So, fear Allah’s disobedience and be reverent to HIM,
b. and obey me in Divine Teachings.

26:180
a. ‘And I am not asking you any reward for this advocacy.
b. My reward is only from Rabb - The Lord of all existence.

26:181
a. Always ‘give full measure and weight of what you sell, and
b. do not be among those who give short measure and cause loss to others;

26:182
a. ‘and weigh and measure with accurate scales,

26:183
a. ‘and do not cheat and deprive people of their goods for which they pay, and
b. do not act wickedly in the land, fomenting economic and commercial corruption,

26:184
a. ‘and fear disobedience of the One WHO created you, and all the earlier generations.’

26:185
a. They said:
b. ‘You are surely of the bewitched.

26:186
a. ‘And you are but a human being like us!
b. In fact, we consider you of the liars in your claim of Divine Messengership.

26:187
a. ‘So make pieces from the sky fall down upon us, if you are of the truthful’ in your assertion of a Divine Punishment.

26:188
a. He answered:
b. ‘My Rabb - The Lord is Well-Aware of what you are doing!’

26:189
a. But they belied and denied him.
b. Thus the punishment of the Time of Gloom seized them.
c. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible time.

26:190
a. Surely, in this narrative is an important lesson for those who think and reflect,
b. yet most of them are not believers.

26:191
a. And, your Rabb - The Lord – HE indeed is the Almighty to punish anyone for arrogance against the Truth, and yet The Infinitely Compassionate especially to the reverent.

26:192
a. This Qur’an is indeed a revelation from Rabb - The Lord of all existence,

26:193
a. brought down by the Trusted Spirit,

26:194
a. onto your heart O The Prophet,
b. so that you may be of the warner to the disobedient,

26:195
a. in the clear Arabic language.

26:196
a. And, of course, the essence of this Revelation was foretold in the former Scriptures of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.

26:197
a. So is it not a sufficient proof of the truth of The Qur’an and the truth of Muhammad’s Divine Mission for them that even scholars among Descendants of Jacob also recognize it to be so?

26:198
a. Yet even if WE had revealed this Qur’an on to any of the non-Arab,

26:199
a. and he had recited it to them in clear non-Arabic language, they would still not have
understood and believed in it.

26:200
a. This is how WE make it - the Message of this Qur’an - go unattended through the hearts of the disbelieving criminals.

26:201
a. Despite irrefutable proofs of its truth, they will still not believe in it until they actually
experience the painful punishment,

26:202
a. which will suddenly come upon them, when they are not even expecting it.

26:203
a. And then they are going to cry out:
b. ‘Can we be granted some respite’ so that we can go back to worldly life and follow the Messenger and reform ourselves?

26:204
a. So is it that they are asking to hurry OUR Punishment?

26:205
a. Thus do you see:
b. if WE grant them some extra years of enjoyment,

26:206
a. and, then, comes upon them the punishment that they were promised,

26:207
a. then what good will be the extra years that they will be benefited by?

26:208
a. In any case, WE never destroyed any habitation without first it having a warner about the consequences of OUR disobedience,

26:209
a. as a Reminder from US.
b. And WE have never been unfair to anyone while dealing with OUR disobedience.

26:210
a. And this Qur’an is a Divine Writ and is not being revealed by any satan/evil spirits.

26:211
a. It is neither proper for them, nor are they capable of doing that.

26:212
a. In fact, they are wholly barred even from overhearing any part of it at the time of this Divine Communication.

26:213
a. Hence, do not call upon any entity for worship apart from Allah,
b. lest you should be of those punished.

26:214
a. And O The Prophet!
b. Warn whoever you can reach, starting with your close relatives.

26:215
a. And spread your wings in kindness to those of your close relatives and whoever follows you from the believers.

26:216
a. But if they disobey you, then tell them:
b. ‘Indeed, I am free of any responsibility from what you do.’

26:217
a. And trust in Allah - the Almighty, the Compassionate.

26:218
a. WHO notices you - O The Prophet - when you stand for Tahajjud/late night prayer,

26:219
a. and your movement amidst those who prostrate themselves in worship, reverence and awe.

26:220
a. Surely, it is HE, WHO is the All-Listening, the All-Aware.

26:221
a. Should I tell you those upon whom the satan/evil spirits actually descend?

26:222
a. They descend upon every lying sinner.

26:223
a. Who attentively listens to every falsehood,
b. and most of them are liars.

a. As for the slanderous words of hostile poets – only the misguided follow them.

a. Have you not noted how they wander aimlessly in every valley of falsehoods and rhetoric?

a. And how often they say in their poetry what they do not even do or mean?

26:227
a. Most of the hostile poets are of this type, except for those who:
- believe, and
- practice righteousness, and
- remember Allah unceasingly, and
- defend themselves whenever they are wronged.
And trust Allah’s Promise that those who do wrong will soon know what a complete reversal in fate they will receive.
