38. Sad/Saad

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

38:01
a. Saad.
b. By The Divine Qur’an - full of Remembrance and Reminders.

38:02
a. They do not have any reason to reject it.
b. Instead, those who disbelieve are lost in conceit and dissent.

38:03
a. How many generations have WE destroyed before them for the same sins!
b. Then they cried out for help when it was far too late to repent and escape the punishment.

38:04
a. Yet they are surprised that a Warner should come to them from among themselves.
b. And the disbelievers say to one another:
c. ‘This Prophet is a deceiver, a liar!’

38:05
a. How ‘has he made our worshipful entities into only One worshipful entity of Allah?
b. Surely this is very astonishing and a curious thing, indeed!’

38:06
a. And the leaders among them went about saying:
b. ‘Let us go out of here.
c. And remain faithful to your worshipful entities.
d. Indeed, this is what is extremely desirable.’

38:07
a. ‘We have not heard anything like this in the religion of these later days.
b. So this concept is nothing but a fabrication.’

38:08
a. How has the Reminder - The Qur’an - been sent down on to him alone from among all of us?
b. No!
c. Instead, they are lost in doubts about MY Reminder.

d. No!
e. In fact, they have not yet tasted MY Punishment!

38:09
a. They think that no one else deserves OUR Blessings.
b. Or do they control the treasuries of your Rabb - The Lord’s mercy?
c. The Almighty, The Bestower of Blessings.

38:10
a. Or do they hold control over the celestial realm and the terrestrial world, and whatever is between the two?
b. If so, then, let them ascend to the celestial realm through any means of ascension.

38:11
a. Any faction among factions howsoever large, if it will raise its head against Allah …
b. will be defeated like the factions before.

38:12
a. Disbelieving before them were
- the People of Noah who denied and belied him, and
- the tribe of ‘Ad who denied and belied Hud, and
- Pharaoh of power and dominance who denied and belied Moses and Aaron.

38:13
a. And
- the tribe of Thamud who denied and belied Saleh, and
- the People of Lot who were consumed by their bodily desires denied and belied Lot,
and
- the People of A’ykah, the people of Midian who denied and belied Sho’ayb.
b. They were the factions: people who were joined together in disbelief and blasphemy.

38:14
a. In fact, each one of them denied and belied the Messengers.
b. Thus MY Punishment was inevitable - absolutely justified upon them.

38:15
a. And what are these people waiting for?
b. Just for one single blast of punishment as happened to the people of Lot,
c. for which there will be no delay beyond the term set for it by Allah.

38:16
a. Yet they mockingly sneer:
b. O ‘Our Rabb - The Lord!
c. Hasten for us our record before the Time of Reckoning.’

38:17
a. O The Prophet!
b. Bear patiently over what they allege against your Mission and the Message.
c. And remember OUR Servant, David - a man of great power.
d. Indeed, he was repeatedly turning to US in repentance and guidance.

38:18
a. Indeed, it was for this that WE subjected the mountains along with him to glorify US in the evenings and the mornings.

38:19
a. And so did the birds, WE gathered them together -
b. all turning to HIM in praise and reverence.

38:20
a. And WE strengthened his rule with justice and goodness, and
b. WE granted him wisdom and a decisive speech and eloquence.

38:21
a. And has the account of the two disputants reached you?
b. When they climbed over the wall of his sanctuary where David would pray and meditate.

38:22
a. When they entered upon David, he got frightened of them.
b. But they said:
c. ‘Do not fear!
d. We are two disputants, and one of us has done the other wrong.
e. So judge between us in justice.
f. And do not treat us with injustice and unfairly.
g. And guide us to the level-playing path.’

38:23
a. One of them explained the case:
b. ‘This person is my brethren.
c. He has ninety-nine ewes/sheep, while I have only one ewe/sheep,
d. and yet he says to me:
e. Give it over to me.
f. And he has been overbearing in his speech’ and thus made me do so.

38:25
a. So WE forgave him for that act of hastiness.
b. And, indeed, he will have closeness to US and a good return to the realm of the Hereafter.

38:26
a. And WE said:
b. ‘O David!

c. WE have made you a ruler on the earth.
d. So judge among the people with the truth and justice, and
e. do not follow your whims lest it misleads you from the Path of Allah.
f. Indeed, those who stray away from the Path of Allah – for them will be an awful punishment for having forgotten the Time of Reckoning.

38:27
a. And WE have not created the celestial realm and the terrestrial world, and whatever is between them without purpose.
b. Such is the perception of those who disbelieve.
c. Therefore, woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire!

38:28
a. Or do they think that WE will treat those who believe and practice righteousness just like those who spread corruption/chaos on the earth?
b. Or that WE will treat the pious just as WE treat the impious?
c. No!
d. That would be against the principles of truth and justice.

38:29
a. This is a Blessed Book - The Qur’an – which WE have sent down to you,
b. so that those with understanding may contemplate over its Messages and take heed.

38:30
a. And WE blessed David with Solomon as a son -
b. he was an excellent servant.
c. Indeed, he was also ever-repentant to US.

38:31
a. It was one late afternoon that well-bred horses were displayed before him: Solomon.

38:32
a. Then he got so involved in inspecting them that he forgot the Remembrance of his Rabb – The Lord.
b. So he said:
c. ‘Indeed, I got involved in the love of good things of life like my horses more than I should have loved the Remembrance of my Rabb - The Lord.’
d. Then the horses were taken away till they disappeared behind the veil of distance and darkness.

38:33
a. Then Solomon commanded:
b. ‘Bring them – horses - back to me!’
c. Then he began striking/caressing their shanks and necks until he had admired them all.

38:34
a. And, indeed, WE tested Solomon by placing him like a lifeless body on his throne.
b. Thereupon he turned to US in repentance,

38:35
a. praying:
b. O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!

c. Forgive me.
d. And bless me with a kingdom and a kingship which no one after me will ever have.
e. Indeed, YOU – YOU alone are the Bestower of Blessings.’

38:36
a. So WE forgave him and rewarded him by putting the wind in his service -
b. to blow mildly and gently wherever he directed it.

38:37
a. And WE also gave him control over the satans from the jinn including those with skills of building and underwater diving,

38:38
a. as well as others bound together in chains.

38:39
a. And WE told Solomon:
b. ‘This is OUR Dispensation.
c. So you may either share it with others or withhold, without having to render any account.’

38:40
a. And, indeed, for him will be closeness to US in the realm of the Hereafter, and
b. a good place of return: Paradise.

38:41
a. And mention about OUR Servant Job, when he called out to his Rabb - The Lord, saying:
b. ‘Indeed, Satan has afflicted me with anguish and suffering.’

38:42
a. Thereupon WE told Job:
b. ‘Stamp your foot’ on the ground!
c. When he stamped his foot, a place for washing and drinking miraculously appeared.
d. It was said:
e. ‘Here is cool water for you to wash and a drink too.’

38:43
a. Then, WE restored his family to him, and the like of them - grandchildren, as a Favor from US,
b. and a lesson for those with understanding.

38:44
a. WE also told Job:
b. ‘And take in your hand a bunch of hundred twigs or spikes of grain or blades of grass, and hit your wife with it,
c. so that you do not break your oath’ but fulfill it.
d. Indeed, WE found him to be patient and steadfast in adversity -
e. he was an excellent servant!
f. And, indeed, he was always turning to US in repentance and guidance.

38:45
a. And recall OUR Servants Abraham and Isaac and Jacob:
b. endowed with strength and insight.

38:46
a. Indeed, WE selected them for a special task:
b. the remembrance of the Final Home in the realm of the Hereafter.

38:47
a. And, indeed, they are among the chosen with US and the outstanding.

38:48
a. And recall OUR Servants Ishmael and Elisha and Ezekiel -
b. and each one of them was of the outstanding as well.

38:49
a. This - The Qur’an - is a Remembrance and a Reminder.
b. And, indeed, for the pious will be a good place of return to….

38:50
a. Gardens of Perpetual Bliss with their gates wide-open to them -

38:51
a. reclining therein, calling for loads of fruits and drinks.

38:52
a. And by their side will be heavenly entities restraining their glances, well-matched in age.

38:53
a. This is it what you were promised as a reward for the Time of Reckoning.

38:54
a. Indeed, such is OUR Provision for you.
b. This is never going to diminish or finish.

38:55
a. This is for the pious!
b. However, the transgressors will definitely have a miserable place of return ….

38:56
a. …. Hell!
b. They will have to endure it.
c. It will be an awful place to live in!

38:57
a. This is for the transgressors!
b. So make them taste it – a boiling liquid which burns their inside just as does the fire, and a
cold dark fluid.

38:58
a. And similar to it other sufferings of diverse kinds, as well.

38:59
a. And they will be told while entering the Fire:
b. ‘Here is another crowd of people rushing in with you.

c. They will say for them there is no welcoming.
d. They too are certainly going to endure the Fire.’

38:60
a. They will say:
b. ‘No!
c. No welcoming for you.
d. For it were you who brought this suffering upon us -
e. a miserable state to stay in!’

38:61
a. They will say:
b. O ‘Our Rabb - The Lord!
c. Whoever brought this upon us, multiply for him the punishment in the Fire.’

38:62
a. And while being in the Fire they will also be saying to one another:
b. ‘Why is it that we do not see here any of the persons whom we used to count among the evil for bringing bad omen on us?

38:63
a. Is it that we took them for mockery and ridicule for no reason?
b. Or is it that they are here, but our eyes have missed them?’

38:64
a. Surely that is how it will really be -
b. the bickering and pointing fingers at each other of the People of the Fire.

38:65
a. Declare O The Prophet!
b. ‘I am only a Warner.
c. There is no entity of worship other than Allah.
d. The One and Only, The Supreme.’

38:66
a. Rabb - The Lord of the celestial realm and the terrestrial world, and whatever is between them.
b. The Almighty, The All-Forgiving.

38:67
a. Say:
b. This - The Qur’an – is a Great Message.

38:68
a. And you are turning away from it in disbelief!

38:69
a. Say O The Prophet:
b. ‘I have no knowledge of the discussions in the Exalted Assembly of Angels, as they argued’
about the creation of the human species.

38:70
a. It is revealed on to me that I am a Clear Warner.

38:71
a. There was a time when your Rabb - The Lord told the angels:
b. ‘I am about to create a human being out of clay.’
c. And this was Adam.

38:72
a. ‘So when I have formed him and given him the right shape, and breathed into him of MY Spirit,
b. then you must all fall down before him, prostrating.’

38:73
a. So the angels fell down in prostration - all of them together before Adam,

38:74
a. except Iblees – of the jinn species who was among the audience- he did not.
b. He became arrogant, and
c. thus became first of the disobedient to the Command of Allah.

38:75
a. HE asked him:
b. ‘O Iblees!
c. What prevented you from prostrating yourself before that which I created with MY Hands?
d. Have you become arrogant or do you consider yourself of the exalted?’

38:76
a. He - Iblees - answered:
b. ‘I am better than him.
c. YOU created me of fire,
d. while YOU created him of clay.’

38:77
a. HE commanded:
b. ‘Then get out of here!
c. For sure, you are eternally accursed.’

38:78
a. ‘And surely MY curse is going to remain upon you till the Time of Final Judgment.’

38:79
a. Thus Iblees became Satan and his jealousy turned into a grudge and a determination to avenge himself on Adam and his downstream generations.
b. Thus he - Satan - requested:
c. O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!
d. Then give me time till the Time they die and are then to be resurrected.’

38:80
a. HE said:
b. ‘For sure you are of those who have the time’ -

38:81
a. ‘till the Time, the time has been ascertained.’

38:82
a. Satan said:
b. ‘By YOUR Majesty, I am definitely going to mislead them, all together,

38:83
a. except for those of YOUR servants who are sincerely devoted.’

38:84
a. HE said:
b. Whatever I do and command ‘is the truth in itself.
c. And the Truth I Speak’ that -

38:85
a. ‘I will definitely fill Hell to the brim with you and whoever among them follow you - all together!’

38:86
a. Say O The Prophet:
b. ‘I am not asking you for any compensation for presenting this Qur’an, and
c. I do not pretend to be of those what they are not.

38:87
a. This Qur’an is only a Remembrance and a Reminder for all people of the World.

38:88
a. And, you are certainly going to know its significance and true purpose after a time.
