41. Fussilat/Clearly Explained

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

41:01
a. Ha. Mim.

41:02
a. This is a Revelation from Allah - The One and Only God of everyone and everything.
b. The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

41:03
a. This is a Book whose Messages are clearly explained and well spelled-out -
b. Qur’an in Arabic -
c. for a people who understand.

41:04
a. The Qur’an is to be a herald of good news for those who accept its Message, and
b. a warner for those who intentionally deny and belie its Message.
c. And yet most of them turn away in aversion and arrogance,
d. for they do not care to listen to it so as to reflect on its Message.

41:05
a. And they say:
b. ‘Our hearts are in covering from whatever you call us to, and
c. our ears are heavy so we cannot hear you, and
d. there is a barrier - a void - between us and you with regard to the basic concepts of religion.
e. So you do whatever you like according to your religion to please your Allah, and
f. we are going to do as we have always done.

41:06
a. Tell them O The Prophet:
b. ‘Indeed, I am only a human being like anyone of you.
c. However, it is revealed onto me that your elah is only One Elah.
d. So take a straight course to HIM through faith, reverence, and obedience, and
e. seek HIS forgiveness’ for your disbelief and sinful trespasses.
f. But woe to those who ascribe other partners to Allah.

41:07
a. Those who do not pay out the Zakat/annual charity, and
b. who deny the truth of the realm of the Hereafter.

41:08
a. However, those who believe and practice righteousness,
b. for them will be a reward without end - undiminishing, unceasing!

41:09
a. Say to them:
b. ‘How can you disbelieve in the One WHO has created the terrestrial world in two days?
c. And yet how can you ascribe entities to be as HIS partners?
d. That is Rabb - The Lord of all existence!

41:10
a. And HE placed solid mountains towering above it, and
b. blessed these and equitably apportioned its means of sustenance.
c. HE accomplished all that in two days, thus adding up to a total of four days of evolutionary period,
d. this is in response to the queries of the enquirers about the creation of the terrestrial world and its resources for survival of its inhabitants.
41:11
a. Then HE turned towards the creation of the celestial realm while it was still smoke of gases.
b. So HE ordered it and to the terrestrial world after HE had created both:
c. ‘Come, both of you in compliance with OUR System either willingly or unwillingly.’
d. And both responded:
e. ‘We both come in willingly’ in compliance.

41:12
a. So HE formed smoke of gaseous elements into seven celestial realms, one above the other, in two days, thereby completing the universe in six days,
b. and assigned to each celestial realm its mandate.
c. And WE decorated the nearest realm beautifully illuminated with lamps, i.e., stars and planets, and
d. made them secure so that the system of one may not interfere or conflict with the other.
e. This is the system designed and programmed by The Almighty, The All-Knowledgeable.

41:13
a. But if they still turn away, then say:
b. ‘I am warning you of the coming of a disastrous thunderbolt like the thunderbolt which struck the People of ‘Ad and Thamud.
41:14
a. Remember when their Messengers came to them, back and forth, saying:
b. ‘Do not submit in worship to any entity except to Allah!’
c. They scoffed and responded:
d. ‘If our Rabb - The Lord really wanted us to believe in what you advocate, HE could surely have assigned angels not you, a human being like us.
e. Therefore, as it is we definitely deny in what you claim to have been assigned.’

41:15
a. As for the People of ‘Ad –
b. they acted arrogantly throughout the land against any reason or right.

c. And when their Prophet Hud warned them of agonizing suffering in the face of their deliberate disbelief they boasted:
d. ‘Who could be stronger than us in power to cause us harm and suffering?’
e. Did they not realize that Allah, WHO created them, was infinitely mightier than them and could cause them agonizing suffering?
f. And they continued to deny and belie OUR Messages - consciously and constantly.

41:16
a. So WE unleashed upon them a furious wind for a few disastrous days,
b. to let them have a taste of the most degrading punishment in this worldly life.
c. But, surely, their punishment of the realm of the Hereafter will be far more degrading, and
d. they will not be helped or saved from it.

41:17
a. And as for the People of Thamud -
b. WE guided them, but they willfully preferred blindness of disbelief over guidance.
c. Consequently, the humiliating thunderbolt seized them for what they earned by way of their sinful conduct and killing the female camel.

41:18
a. However, WE saved only those who believed and were Allah-reverent.

41:19
a. And imagine the Time of Resurrection when the Enemies of Allah from all generations will be herded together to be consigned to the Fire -
b. so they will be marshaled in an order,

41:20
a. until, when they reach there - the Hellfire,
b. their hearing and their sight and their skins – all body parts - will testify against them as to what they used to do.

41:21
a. And they will ask their skins/body parts:
b. ‘Why did you testify against us?’
c. They will reply:
d. ‘Allah has enabled us to speak – HE WHO gives speech to everything.
e. HE created you and enabled you to speak the first time, and now to HIM you have been brought back.’
41:22
a. And you never tried to hide yourselves while sinning lest your hearing and your sight and your skins/body parts one day may be testifying against you.
b. And since you were never certain about the truth of the Resurrection, you thought that Allah would not know most of the things you were doing recklessly.

41:23
a. And that kind of thinking which you thought about your Rabb - The Lord has now brought you to ruin, and,
b. thus, you have ended up here among the eternal losers.

41:24
a. So if they endure the punishment patiently, thinking it will pass, the Fire will nonetheless
remain their dwelling place, and
b. if they try to seek a favor, they will not be of those who will be appeased.

41:25
a. And when they became oblivious of OUR Remembrance, WE assigned for them companions
from among the satanic jinn and humans who glamorized to them their past and present.
b. Thus, Allah’s Word/Verdict of Punishment became justified for them just as it was for those who were sinful among the former communities of jinn and human.
c. Surely they were the eternal losers.

41:26
a. And those who disbelieve propagate:
b. ‘Do not listen to the recitation of this Qur’an!
c. But drown its recitation in frivolous talk so that you may prevail’ over it.

41:27
a. But WE are definitely going to give those who disbelieve a taste of an awful punishment.
b. And WE are also definitely going to pay them back for the worst of that which they used
to do.

41:28
a. This will be the payback for the Enemies of Allah:
b. The Fire!
c. In it will be their permanent home as a payback for having consciously and repeatedly
rejected and challenged OUR Messages.

41:29
a. And those who disbelieved will submit while in the Fire:
b. O ‘Our Rabb - The Lord!
c. Show us those who misguided us of the jinn and the human -
d. so that we may trample them under our feet, and they be pushed among the lowliest’ of the low in Hell in a suffering more severe than ours.

41:30
a. On the contrary, those who say:
b. ‘Our Rabb - The Lord is Allah!’
c. And then they stand firm by living their lives accordingly,
d. the angels will come down upon them at the time of their death, assuring:
e. ‘Do not fear death and do not grieve for the family and children you are leaving behind,
f. but rejoice at the happy news of the Paradise which you were promised.’

41:31
a. ‘We have been your protectors in the life of this world and will be so in the realm of the Hereafter,
b. wherein you will have everything you desire, and
c. you will also have whatever you call for; or, whatever you ever prayed for….

41:32
a. …. as a hospitality for you from the One WHO is All-Forgiving and Infinitely Merciful.

41:33
a. And who could be more admirable in speech than the one who -
- invites people to Allah, and
- practices righteousness,
b. and says:
c. ‘Indeed, I am of those who submit’ in worship, reverence, and awe to Allah!?

41:34
a. And a virtuous deed and the sinful/evil deed are never equal.
b. So ward-off evil by that which is better.
c. If you act in such a manner then the one with whom there was enmity, between you and him, will behave as if he were a valued friend.

41:35
a. However, no one can attain this quality except for those who persevere,
b. and no one can attain this quality except for those who are blessed with great righteousness.

41:36
a. And whenever a temptation from Satan provokes you, then counteract it by seeking refuge with Allah and HE will ward it off from you.
b. Surely, HE is both the All-Listening and the All-Knowing.

41:37
a. And among HIS Wonders – Wonders of HIS Creativeness and Power - are the nighttime and the daytime, and the sun and the moon.
b. So do not prostrate yourselves in worship before the sun or before the moon,
c. but prostrate yourselves in worship only before Allah, WHO created them without a precedent,
d. if it is truly HIM that you submit to in worship.

41:38
a. But if they are too proud to do so,
b. then let them know that there are those who are already in the presence of your Rabb - The Lord glorifying HIM throughout the nighttime and the daytime, and
c. they never get tired of it.

41:39
a. And among HIS Wonders is the way in which you see the lifeless and arid land -
b. getting stirred up to life and swelling its yield as WE send down rain water upon it.
c. Indeed, The One WHO brings to life the lifeless land can certainly give life once again to the dead human beings.
d. Indeed, Allah Manifests Sovereignty over all existence.

41:40
a. Indeed, those who distort the meaning of OUR Messages in The Qur’an from their intended purpose cannot hide from US.
b. So is the one who is hurled into the Fire better off than the one who comes through safely during the Time of Final Judgment?
c. So do whatever you like -
d. for HE is Watching whatever you do and will requite you.

41:41
a. Indeed, those who deny and belie The Reminder – The Qur’an - when it comes to them are going to be the eternal losers -
b. for this is an Invincible Book indeed!

41:42
a. No falsehood can ever blemish it - The Qur’an - from any angle, neither from its front nor from its back – neither before it nor from after it,
b. for this is being sent down by The All-Wise, The All-Praised.

41:43
a. O The Prophet!
b. You are not being told anything different from the like of what was told to the Messengers before you: insults, mockery, and rejection.
c. Surely your Rabb - The Lord is indeed Full of Forgiveness yet Full of Painful Punishment,
too.

41:44
a. And if WE had made this Qur’an in a foreign language, non-Arabic, they who belie it now
would have surely complained:
b. ‘Why are its Messages not clearly explained in our Arabic language?
c. What!?
d. A Qur’an not in Arabic to an Arab Messenger Muhammad ibn Abdallah?’
e. Say to them:
f. ‘This is a book of Guidance and a source of healing for those who believe.
g. As for those who do not believe in it, there is actually
- deafness/heaviness in their ears, and
- blindness of sight and hearts in them.
h. Thus it is as if they are being called from a distant place.’

41:45
a. And, indeed, WE gave the Scripture to Moses – The Torah.
b. Then differences arose concerning it.
c. And had it not been for a preceding Word from your Rabb - The Lord to defer the judgment until the Time of Resurrection, judgment would have surely been pronounced among them.
d. And indeed they are in perplexing doubt about it - The Qur’an.

41:46
a. Whoever practices righteousness, it is for the benefit of oneself, and
b. whoever commits evil, it is likewise to the detriment of oneself.
c. And your Rabb - The Lord is never unjust to HIS servants.

41:47
a. To HIM alone devolves knowledge of The Last Hour as to when it will come.
b. And no fruit/crop emerge from its sheath, nor does any female conceive or give birth, except with HIS Knowledge.
c. And at the Time of Final Judgment when HE is going to summon them and ask:
d. ‘Where are MY so called partners’ that you alleged to be with ME?
e. They will answer:
f. ‘We submit to YOU that none of us can testify’ to such partners.

41:48
a. And they will have been abandoned by those entities which they used to call upon before
besides Allah, and
b. they will finally realize that they have nowhere to escape from the imminent punishment.

41:49
a. The human being never tires of asking his Rabb - The Lord for good things of life.
b. But whenever adversity afflicts him by way of hardship or impoverishment, he loses all hope and becomes dismayed.

41:50
a. Then, when WE let him taste some of OUR Mercy after he has been afflicted with adversity,
he is sure to say:
b. ‘This turn of fortune is of my own doing!
c. Anyway, I do not think The Last Hour is ever going to come.
d. And even if I were to be brought back to my Rabb - The Lord, I should certainly find the
best reward for me waiting with HIM.’
e. No. It shall never be so!
f. On the contrary, WE will definitely apprise him and other disbelievers of whatever they had done in their worldly life.
g. And WE will definitely give them a taste of harsh punishment!

41:51
a. And whenever WE bless a person with a favor, he tends to turn away from giving thanks
and distances himself from OUR Remembrance.
b. Yet when adversity afflicts him, then he quickly turns to US with prolonged prayers.

41:52
a. Say to them:
b. Have you ever considered how you will fare with Allah ‘if this Qur’an was actually
from Allah while you keep on denying and belying it?
c. Who could then be more misguided than the one who is in such extreme defiance?’

41:53
a. WE are going to show them OUR Wonders
- over all horizons of the universe
- as well as within themselves,
b. until it becomes clear to them that this Qur’an is the Truth.
c. Is it not enough of a proof for them to know that your Rabb - The Lord is a Witness to the truth of The Qur’an as over everything else?

41:54
a. And yet they doubt the Resurrection and the meeting with their Rabb - The Lord -
b. though it is HE WHO encompasses them and everything else and so will requite them too for their disbelief.
