52. At-Tur/The Mountain

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

52:01
a. By the Mountain Sinai,
52:02
a. and a Scripture revealed and written,
52:03
a. on parchment unrolled,

52:04
a. and the House of worship, continuously inhabited,

52:05
a. and the roof of the sky raised so high,

52:06
a. and the sea constantly surging.

52:07
a. Surely the punishment from your Rabb - The Lord will be coming indeed– unavoidable for those who deserve it.
52:08
a. There will be no reverting or averting to it – it is bound to happen.

52:09
a. It will all happen at The Time when the celestial realm will shake in a violent shake,
52:10
a. and the mountains will move all around with an awesome movement.

52:11
a. Woe - at that Time - to those who belie and deny the coming of this Time,
52:12
a. who - in their recklessness – are playing around with speculation and conjunctures.

52:13
a. The Time when they will be shoved forcibly into the Hell,

52:14
a. and told:
b. ‘This is the Fire – the one you had been belying’ and denying.
52:15
a. ‘Is this a deception which you used to deride, or
b. do you still not see’ this as a reality?
52:16
a. ‘Enter it now!
b. It is all the same whether you endure it – the hellfire - patiently or impatiently you will have to endure it in either case -
c. for you are only being paid back for what you had been doing.’
52:17
a. On the other hand, the reverent will surely be in Paradise and in bliss,
52:18
a. rejoicing at what their Rabb - The Lord would have given them,
b. and gratified to their Rabb - The Lord for having saved them from the punishment of the Blazing Fire.
52:19
a. They will be told:
b. ‘Eat and drink with relish - as a reward - for what you had been doing’ in the worldly life.
52:20
a. Therein they will be relaxing on couches - face to face with each other,
b. and WE will pair them with heavenly companions, pure of thought, with dark, wide eyes.
52:21
a. For those who believed and whose descendants also followed them in belief truly and faithfully, WE will reunite their descendants with them in Paradise,
b. and WE will not deprive them a reward for any of their good deeds.
c. Every person will be pledged for what he had earned of good or evil.
52:22
a. WE will spread out all kind of fruits and meat and anything they may desire.
52:23
a. They will pass around a cup to each other which will neither give rise to any frivolous talk nor incite to sin.
52:24
a. And around them will be youth - attendants to serve - with appearance as if they were hidden pearls.
52:25
a. And some of them – believers - will turn to one another asking how everyone lived the life of the world.
52:26
a. Saying:
b. ‘Aforetime, when we were still living in the midst of our families – we were always
cautious’ about our conduct that may cause Allah’s displeasure.

52:27
a. So Allah has been gracious to us and has saved us from the punishment of the Fire penetrating through skins.

52:28
a. Even before this, we used to call upon HIM in awe and reverence.
b. Indeed, HE - HE is The Beneficent, The Infinitely Compassionate.

52:29
a. O The Prophet!
b. So keep reminding people.
c. For, by the Grace of your Rabb - The Lord, you are neither a soothsayer nor insane.

52:30
a. Or they allege:
b. He is only ‘a poet - for whom we await a future mishap to befall.’

52:31
a. Say O The Prophet:
b. ‘Keep awaiting a mishap to befall me,
c. for I too will be awaiting along with you to see whom the mishap befalls.

52:32
a. Is it their own mind that is prompting them to say so?
b. Or is it simply the viciousness of a rebellious people?

52:33
a. Or do they allege:
b. ‘He has forged it up’ by himself – The Qur’an.
c. No! He has not forged it up.
d. Rather they say so because they have no will to believe.

52:34
a. If they really believe that such a Book can be forged,
b. then let them bring up one single discourse of literary and spiritual splendor like this
Qur’an,
c. if they are truthful in their allegation.

52:35
a. Or were they created out of nothing?
b. Or were they the creators?

52:36
a. Or did they create the celestial realm and the terrestrial world?
b. No!
c. In fact they just have no conviction.

52:37
a. Or do they possess the treasures of your Rabb - The Lord?
b. Or do they even control or have authority over them?
c. No!

52:38
a. Or do they have a ladder to climb up and over-hear what is transpiring in the Higher Realm of Imperceptibility?
b. If so then let the one who has over-heard, bring a clear proof of it.

52:39
a. Or does HE has daughters whereas you – pagans - have sons?

52:40
a. Or do you – O The Prophet - demand some kind of a compensation of your advocacy from them that may burden them with debt and hence unable to submit to Allah?

52:41
a. Or do they have access to know the future, so they are writing it down?

52:42
a. Or do they intend plotting against you?
b. If so, then you will see that the plot will rebound against those who disbelieve.

52:43
a. Or do they have another entity of worship besides Allah?
b. No!
c. Exalted be Allah - and far above the entities they ascribe to HIM in Divinity, Unity, Worship, and Command!

52:44
a. And even if they were to see some fragment falling down from the celestial realm which may be a punishment for their mockery and denial, they would still say:
b. This is just ‘a heap of clouds!’

52:45
a. So leave them, until they meet their Time of doom - when they will be stunned.

52:46
a. The Time when their plotting will neither help them, nor will they be salvaged by anyone.

52:47
a. Surely for those who do evil there is yet another punishment besides that,
b. though most of them do not realize that punishments will ever seize them.

52:48
a. O The Prophet!
b. So be patient for the Judgment of your Rabb - The Lord.
c. Surely you are always within OUR Sight, care, and protection.
d. And glorify the Praise of your Rabb - The Lord when you arise for worshipful meditation and Prayers at pre and post-dawn.

52:49
a. And Glorify HIM during part of the night and also at the time of retreat of the stars.
