65. At-Talaq/Annulment of the marriage

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

65:01
a. O The Prophet!
b. Tell the Faithful that when any one of you would intend to divorce your women/wives, divorce them at a time when their prescribed waiting periods can properly start.
c. And count their waiting periods of three monthly cycles accurately,
d. and be mindful of Allah, your Rabb - The Lord.
e. Do not make them leave their houses where they have lived with their husbands, nor should they leave by themselves at their own discretion,
f. unless they are guilty of a flagrant obscenity.
g. And these are the limits set by Allah.
h. And whoever would violate and overstep the limits set by Allah will have surely wronged himself.
i. You never know that Allah may bring about a positive change of circumstances afterwards.
65:02
a. And once they have completed their waiting period,
b. then either keep them honorably, or part with them honorably.
c. And in either case, call to witness two persons of just character among you to the pronouncement of divorce or to its revocation.
d. And O Witnesses!
e. Give truthful witnessing with due consciousness as if before Allah.
f. This is to warn anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Hour.
g. And HE will make a way out of every difficulty and embarrassment for whoever would fear
disobedience of Allah.

65:03
a. And Allah will provide him sustenance of his need from such an unexpected source that he cannot even imagine.
b. And whoever would trust Allah, then HE will be sufficient for him for all his needs.
c. Surely, Allah will enforce what HE Commands in this respect as well as in all others.
d. Allah has indeed set a due measure for everything.

65:04
a. As for those of your women/wives who would have ceased menstruation – and in case you have a doubt - their waiting period will be three months, as also of those who may not have menstruated yet.

Surah 65 * At-Talaq 659

b. But as for those women/wives who would be pregnant, whether divorced or widowed, their
waiting period will be until they deliver their burden of baby.
c. And Allah will bring about ease for whoever stays mindful of HIM in awe, reverence and piety.
65:05
a. This is Allah’s Command that HE has sent down to you all.
b. And whoever will be fearful of disobedience to the foregoing Command by Allah, HE will absolve him of his sinful offenses and oversights, and make his reward great.
65:06
a. Provide the women/wives you are divorcing with residence during their waiting period
according to your means, and
b. do not harass them so as to make their lives difficult and hence make them leave the residence.
c. And if they are pregnant, then maintain them until they have delivered their burden of baby.
d. Then once delivered, if they opt to breastfeed the baby for you, then pay them for it.
e. And consult together for determining the payment as in vogue and with fairness,
f. but if you have difficulties with each other and reach a deadlock, then let another woman
breast feed the baby for the father, who should settle the payment.

65:07
a. A wealthy man/husband should spend for the baby from his wealth,
b. but whoever is constrained in provision spend from whatever Allah has provided him.
c. Allah does not burden and make anyone liable beyond what HE has provided him.
d. Allah will soon bring about ease after hardship.

65:08
a. And many habitations rebelled against the Command of its/their Rabb - The Lord and HIS Messengers.
b. So WE called it/them to account with a severe account,
c. and punished it/them with an awful and woeful punishment.
d. Thus will also be your fate if you do not comply with OUR Commandments, whether pertaining to the matters of divorce or otherwise.
65:09
a. Then it/they tasted the consequences of their actions, and
b. the consequence of its/their actions was a total loss - total ruin.

65:10
a. Allah has prepared for them yet a more woeful punishment.
b. Therefore, be fearfully conscious of Allah, O you men of wisdom who believe!
c. Allah has indeed sent down to you a Reminder.

65:11
a. That reminder has come to you in the form of a Messenger –
b. who recites to you Allah’s Clear Messages from The Qur’an,
c. to take out those who believe and practice righteousness out of the darkness of ignorance, myth and dogma into the light of truth and reality - Islam.
d. And whoever believes in Allah and practices righteousness, HE will admit him into Gardens with rivers running below -

e. abiding therein eternally: never to die, never to leave.
f. Indeed, Allah has made such an excellent provision for him.

65:12
a. It is Allah WHO created seven celestial realms and like them many aspects of the terrestrial world.
b. HIS Command descends among them all.
c. And, indeed, Allah Manifests Sovereignty over all existence. and that HIS Knowledge encompasses everything.
