70. Al-M’arij/The Ascensions
I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah
The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.
70:01
a. A disbelieving questioner mockingly asked The Prophet about the punishment in the realm of the Hereafter which is bound to befall -
70:02
a. – the disbelievers.
b. And no one can prevent the coming of it -
70:03
a. as it is coming from Allah.
b. And, Allah is Rabb - The Lord - The Lord of the Ascensions.
70:04
a. Ascensions to where the angels and the spirit take a day to ascend,
b. where duration of a day would be equivalent to fifty thousand years of your count.
70:05
a. So O The Prophet!
b. Be patient with a gracious patience.
70:06
a. They perceive this punishment to be far away,
70:07
a. while WE see it as quite near at hand as an inevitable reality -
70:08
a. it will befall at the Time when the celestial realm will be like molten copper,
70:09
a. and the mountains will be floating about in the air like flakes of wool/yarn,
70:10
a. and no close friend will ask any other close friend about his fate,
b. for everyone will be preoccupied with his own predicament -
70:11
a. even though they could see one another.
b. The criminal would wish to ransom himself from the inevitable punishment of that Time by
offering his own children,
70:12
a. and even his spouse and his brother/siblings,
70:13
a. and his relatives - who had stood by him,
70:14
a. and all persons and resources on the earth, if only he could be saved from this inevitable punishment.
70:15
a. No, by no means!
b. The inevitable punishment is going to be the Raging Flame of the Hellfire,
70:16
a. to strip off the scalp/head skin of the disbelievers -
70:17
a. Raging Flame will call out to all those who turn their backs on the Call of Islam, and
b. turn away from The Faith of Islam,
70:18
a. and who would have amassed wealth and hidden it from spending in the Cause of Allah.
70:19
a. Indeed, human being has been created impatient and restless,
70:20
a. complaining and panicking whenever misfortune would befall him,
70:21
a. and ungenerous whenever good fortune would befall him,
70:22
a. except for those who would establish the Salat/Prayers and fulfill their devotional
obligations,
70:23
a. and persevere in their Salat/Prayers and devotional obligations,
70:24
a. and in whose wealth there would always be a rightful share of charity/alms -
70:25
a. - for the bagger and the deprived – the one who would have been deprived of his livelihood,
70:26
a. and those who would affirm the truth of the Time of Judgment,
70:27
a. and those who would endeavor to seek Countenance of Allah in every manner as they are fearful of the punishment of their Rabb - The Lord.
70:28
a. Indeed, no one can feel wholly secure from the punishment of their Rabb - The Lord.
70:29
a. And those who would guard the chastity of their private parts,
70:30
a. from all except their own spouses and those whom you rightfully acquired in the qital/battle -
b. they would not be blamed,
70:31
a. but whoever would seek ways other than those,
b. it is then those who will be the transgressors.
70:32
a. However, those who would faithfully fulfill their promises, trusts, and oaths,
70:33
a. and stand firmly by their testimonies in the court of law,
70:34
a. and take due care of their Salat/Prayers and their devotional obligations -
70:35
a. they all will dwell and be honored in Paradise.
70:36
a. But what is the matter with those who disbelieve,
b. rushing to you – O The Prophet,
70:37
a. - in groups,
b. sitting with you both from the right and from the left?
70:38
a. Allah tells The Prophet:
b. Does each one of them aspire to enter a Paradise of Delight?
70:39
a. No – never!
b. WE created them out of something lowly they know well.
70:40
a. So I swear by Rabb - The Lord of the easts and the wests -
b. that WE have the Absolute Power,
70:41
a. - of destroying and replacing them with those better than them in awe, reverence, and piety,
b. and WE are never to be overruled in executing OUR Will to replace them.
70:42
a. So leave them O The Prophet.
b. Let them talk in vain and amuse themselves,
c. until they face their Time of Reckoning, which they are promised -
70:43
a. - the Time when they will come out of their graves, in all haste, as though rushing to some
goal,
70:44
a. their sights humbled, and overshadowed by shame of disbelief.
b. That would be the Time which they had been repeatedly promised and frequently reminded
- The Resurrection.
