71. Nuh/Prophet Noah

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

71:01
a. Truly, WE assigned Noah with a Divine Mission to his people, saying:
b. ‘Warn your people of the consequences of disobedience to the Divine Message before a grievous punishment would actually afflict them!’

71:02
a. Thus he proclaimed:
b. ‘O My People!
c. I have been assigned to you as a Clear Warner and my message is simple to understand and easy to follow.

71:03
a. The message is:
b. ‘Submit in worship and reverence to Allah alone, and
c. fear HIS disobedience and be reverent to HIM,
d. and, thus, follow me’ in guidance.

71:04
a. By so doing, ‘HE will be forgiving some of your past sinful offenses, and grant you respite till an appointed time - the time of death – instead of destroying you immediately.
b. But when Allah’s Appointed Time will come, then it would neither be averted nor delayed, if only you knew.’

71:05
a. So Noah spent hundreds of years conveying the Divine Message but he faced immense opposition, insult, and mockery.
b. Thus he submitted:
c. O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!
d. Truly, I have appealed to my people by night and by day, as I was assigned to do,

71:06
a. but the more I would call, the farther they would run away’ from my advocacy.

71:07
a. And, truly, each time I would call them so that they would accept The Truth and YOU may
thus grant forgiveness to them,

682 Surah 71 * Nuh

b. they would thrust fingers in their ears, and draw their cloaks over themselves to hide from me,
c. and continue growing in obstinacy and rejection and they became exceedingly overbearing,’
disdaining the faith.

71:08
a. ‘Then, indeed, I appealed to them in public’ places;

71:09
a. ‘and I communicated with them openly, and I spoke to them in private.’

71:10
a. And I told them:
b. ‘Seek forgiveness from your Rabb - The Lord from idolatry and embrace HIS Religion,
c. for HE would always be Forgiving’ for your past sinful life;

71:11
a. furthermore, ‘HE will send rain from the sky abundantly to meet your needs and blossom your farms;

71:12
a. ‘and HE will bless you with increase in wealth and sons/children, and
b. grant you gardens, orchards, and farms, and
c. even bless you with water resources/rivers/streams.’

71:13
a. ‘Why is it that you would not honor the Majesty of Allah,’ WHO is The Lord of all Glory and Honor,

71:14
a. ‘while knowing well that HE created you by various stages?’

71:15
a. Noah’s advocacy continued:
b. ‘Would you not consider how Allah created the celestial realm in seven layers, one above the other;

71:16
a. ‘and HE set the moon among them, an illumination; and set the sun, a radiant lamp?’

71:17
a. ‘And Allah caused you to grow from the earth just as HE caused the vegetation to grow’
from the same earth.

71:18
a. ‘Later, HE would cause you to return to it – to the earth while buried in grave,
b. and finally bring you out once again from the same earth in a new dimension of existence during the Time of Resurrection.

71:19
a. ‘And Allah made the earth for you as a wide expanse -

71:20
a. ‘so that you may walk upon its spacious pathways’ through plains and mountains.

71:21
a. And Noah continued:
b. O ‘My Rabb - The Lord!
c. They have defied me time and again and rebelled against the Divine Message;
d. and followed instead those whose socio-political influence and unlimited riches and children would only add to their loss:’ insolence, disbelief and self-ruin.

71:22
a. ‘And they hatched a plot, an extremely outrageous plot’ against my Mission and Message;

71:23
a. telling their people:
b. ‘You will not abandon any of your worshipful entities.
c. You will not abandon Wadd nor Suwa’ nor Yaghuth nor Ya’uq nor Nasr.’

71:24
a. ‘And, indeed, they misled so many people by these entities of their worship.
b. O My Rabb - The Lord!
c. They have gone far beyond the reach of guidance.
d. So do not increase in evildoers except misguidance.

71:25
a. So they were all drowned, by the Great Flood, because of their habitual sinfulness and wrongdoing,
b. and then WE made them enter the Fire;
c. while they could not find any supporter to salvage them other than Allah.

71:26
a. And Noah said:
b. O My ‘Rabb - The Lord!
c. Do not leave out even a single habitation of the disbelievers surviving on the earth,

71:27
a. ‘for if YOU would allow them surviving, they would, for sure, misguide YOUR servants, and
b. they would breed none but dissolute and sinful disbelievers.’

71:28
a. O My ‘Rabb - The Lord!
- forgive me, and my parents, and
- forgive whoever would enter my house as a believer, and
- forgive all the believing males, as well as all the believing females, and
b. do not increase the wicked in anything except painful destruction,’ and
c. thus they all were destroyed.
