76. Al-Insan/The Human Being

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

76:01
a. Was there not a time in the past when the human being was nothing even to be mentioned?!

76:02
a. Indeed, it is WE WHO created human being of a drop of the mingling of seminal and
ovarian fluid of male and female, so that WE may test him during his lifetime.
b. Then WE enabled him with hearing and seeing and intellect.

76:03
a. And WE guided him on to the Right Path
b. to see whether he be grateful by following the Right Path, or be ungrateful by straying off the Right Path.

76:04
a. WE have definitely prepared for the ungrateful - by being sinful - chains and shackles and
a blazing fire.

76:05
a. As for the grateful - by being righteous - they will drink from cups containing a mixture of camphor/musk -

76:06
a. from a spring at which the servants of Allah will drink,
b. - making it gush out abundantly.

76:07
a. The righteous are the ones who used to fulfill their vows, and
b. stand in awe of the Time the evil of which will be encompassing everyone.

76:08
a. And they - the righteous – used to give food
- to the needy, for the love of HIM,
- and also to the orphan,
- and to the captive/prisoner of war,

700 Surah 76 * Al-Insan

76:09
a. saying within themselves:
b. ‘We feed you only for the Face of Allah,
c. desiring neither any favor in return from you nor any appreciation.

76:10
a. In fact, we stand in awe of our Rabb - The Lord’s judgment on a grim and woeful Time.

76:11
a. Thus, Allah will save them from the woes of that Time, and
b. grant them radiance and happiness,

76:12
a. and Allah will reward them for their perseverance, in refraining from HIS disobedience,
with Paradise and garments of silk,

76:13
a. relaxing on raised couches - neither having excessive heat of the sun nor bitterness of cold,

76:14
a. and its blissful shades will be close upon them, and
b. clusters of fruits hanging low – within their reach,

76:15
a. and served with bowls of silver and glasses of crystal -

76:16
a. - crystal laced bottles of silver arranged for them most tastefully for their needs,

76:17
a. - and given to drink in it from a cup containing a mixture of ginger,

76:18
a. from a spring therein named Salsabeel - ‘Seek your way’ to Paradise –

76:19
a. and attendants of eternal youth will go about serving them,
b. and by looking at them, you will think of them as pearls, scattered.

76:20
a. And if you were to look around, you will see bliss and a realm of vastness without limit.

76:21
a. They will have garments of the finest green silk and rich brocade, and
b. they will be adored with bracelets of silver,
c. while their Rabb - The Lord will give them pure drink to drink.

76:22
a. And they will be told:
b. ‘Indeed, all this bliss is the reward for you,
c. as your endeavors are appreciated!’

76:23
a. Indeed, it is WE WHO have sent down The Qur’an onto you – O The Prophet - as a gradual revelation.

76:24
a. So be patient for the judgment of your Rabb - The Lord,
b. and do not follow any willful sinner or ungrateful among them.

76:25
a. But remember the Sacred Name of your Rabb - The Lord, at dawn and in the evening Salat/ Prayers,

76:26
a. and prostrate yourself before HIM in some parts of the night, and
b. glorify HIM through far into the night.

76:27
a. Surely, they love the fleeting life of this world, and
b. neglect the Burdensome Time ahead of them - the Hereafter,

76:28
a. It is WE WHO created them, and strengthened their make: muscles, bones, limbs, and joints,
b. and, whenever WE please, WE can replace them completely with others of their kind.

76:29
a. This Qur’an is surely a Reminder.
b. Whoever, then, so wills, may find the Path to his Rabb - The Lord –
c. - through staying in compliance with the teaching of the Reminder/The Qur’an.

76:30
a. But you cannot will it unless Allah Wills it too to show you the Path,
b. for, indeed, Allah is All-Knowledgeable of your intentions, and All-Wise whether it would be good for you or not.

76:31
a. HE admits to HIS Mercy and Benevolence whoever HE Wills,
b. but as for the evildoers, for them HE has prepared a painful punishment.
