77. Al-Mursalat/(Winds) Sent Forth

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

77:01
a. By those which are sent in swift succession,

77:02
a. and then forcing on with force as tempests,

77:03
a. and spreading clouds far and wide,

77:04
a. thus separating that separates,

77:05
a. and those bringing the reminder to hearts,

77:06
a. to serve either as an excuse for forgiveness from HIM or as a means of warning of HIS punishment,

77:07
a. that what is being promised is surely going to happen -

77:08
a. - when the stars’ light will extinguish,

77:09
a. and when the celestial realm will split apart,

77:10
a. and when the mountains will be crushed to pieces and blown away as dust,

77:11
a. and when the time to bring the Messengers together will arrive,

77:12
a. for what Time are these things promised -

77:13
a. for the Time of Division?
b. The Time of Judgment.

77:14
a. And what may enable you to perceive the Time of Division?

77:15
a. It will be too bad a Time for those who keep denying and belying the coming of this Time.

77:16
a. Have WE not destroyed the earlier generations for their persistent denial and disbelief of this Time?
b. Indeed, WE did!

77:17
a. Then WE made others who disbelieved to follow them in destruction.
b. WE could do the same now!

77:18
a. Thus do WE deal with the criminals.

77:19
a. It will be too onerous a Time for those who keep denying and belying the coming of this Time.
77:20
a. Did WE not create every one of you from a despicable mixture of seminal and ovarian
fluid?

77:21
a. Then WE placed it in a secure place – the womb,

77:22
a. until a time that is known by gestation for delivery.

77:23
a. Thus do WE determine the time to keep you there, and
b. WE are the best to determine it.

77:24
a. It will be a terrible Time for those who keep denying and belying OUR Creative Powers.

77:25
a. Have WE not made the earth a habitat for you,

77:26
a. for the living and the dead, alike?

77:27
a. And placed therein firm, towering mountains as stabilizers,
b. and gave you sweet and fresh water to drink gushing out of them.

77:28
a. It will be an extremely stressful Time for those who keep denying and belying OUR Blessings.
77:29
a. Those who deny and belie the truth of hellfire will be told:
b. ‘Go away to that which you used to belie – Hellfire,

77:30
a. ‘go away to the three-column shadow of Hellfire!

77:31
a. ‘Neither will it shade, nor will it protect you from the flames’ of Hellfire.

77:32
a. Indeed, it - flames of Hellfire – will throw out sparks of fire as huge castle - in terms of their enormity and vertical extension,

77:33
a. looking as if they were dark yellow camels.

77:34
a. It will be a Time of severe punishment for those who keep denying and belying the unperceived realities of the Time of Judgment.
77:35
a. That is going to be a Time when they will neither be able to utter a word in self-defense,

77:36
a. nor permitted to offer excuses for their disbelief and unrewarding worldly life of a flawed
faith and sin.

77:37
a. It will be a Time of terrible suffering for those who keep denying and belying the coming of the Time of Decision.

77:38
a. This will be the Time of Decision!
b. WE will gather every one of you with many a generation of earlier times too,
c. - the entire human race.

77:39
a. So if you have any ploy to ward off this Time and your punishment,
b. then ploy it now against ME!

77:40
a. It will be a merciless Time for those who keep denying and belying the coming of this Time.

77:41
a. Indeed, the righteous will be amidst shades and springs,

77:42
a. and such fruits as they cherish.

77:43
a. They will be told:
b. ‘Eat and drink with relish as a reward for what you used to do.’

77:44
a. Indeed, thus shall WE reward the virtuous!

77:45
a. It will be too toilsome a Time for those who keep denying and belying the coming of the Time of Judgment and awarding the rewards.

77:46
a. O the disbelievers!
b. Eat and enjoy yourselves for a while in this worldly life.
c. Indeed, you are the criminals!
d. And you will bear the consequences of your disbelief and attitude!

77:47
a. It will be an extremely grueling Time for those who keep denying and belying the coming of the Time of Judgment.

77:48
a. And when they are told:
b. ‘Bow down’ in worshipful submission to Allah/prayers!
c. They do not bow down out of viciousness and contempt.

77:49
a. It will be a Time for a severe punishment of those who keep denying and belying the truth of OUR Messages.

77:50
a. So in what other discourse, after this Qur’an, will they ever believe,
b. as The Qur’an is the last and lasting Word from Allah?
