80. ‘Abasa/looked indifferently
I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah
The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.
80:01
a. He contracted his brows - looked indifferently - and turned his face,
80:02
a. when the blind person came to him.
80:03
a. And what made you think that he, being a believer, may ask you and seek to purify himself,
80:04
a. or you would have guided him and he would have heard words of guidance and thus guidance from you would have benefited him.
80:05
a. Now as for the one who showed through his attitude that he had no need of guidance because of his wealth and social status -
80:06
a. and you were attending to him with full attention,
80:07
a. though you will not be answerable if he would not purify himself from disbelief?
80:08
a. But for the blind one who came to you with full of eagerness to learn,
80:09
a. and he was in awe of Allah,
80:10
a. you did not attend to him - you ignored him.
80:11
a. No, do not be so!
b. Indeed, this is a Reminder -
714 Surah 80 * ‘Abasa
80:12
a. So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it - Reminder.
80:13
a. The Qur’an is inscribed in pages of great esteem,
80:14
a. exalted and perfectly purified of any falsehood,
80:15
a. borne by the hands of scriber - angel envoys -
b. who write it down from the Preserved Tablet.
80:16
a. who are honorable, virtuous.
80:17
a. Accursed be the person for his disbelief;
b. how could he disbelieve the Truth!?
80:18
a. Would he not realize of what lowly substance did HE create him?
80:19
a. Out of a mere sperm drop, a mixture of seminal and ovarian, HE created him,
b. then HE proportioned him in stages as a blood-clot, then an embryo up to the last stage of his creation, and formed his unique nature;
80:20
a. then made the course of life easy for him.
80:21
a. Then HE would cause him to die and bring his body to the grave.
80:22
a. Later, whenever HE Wills, HE will resurrect him from the grave to a new dimension of existence.
80:23
a. But no!
b. The person would not fulfill whatever HE commanded him.
80:24
a. So let the person consider the sources of his food/provisions that WE provide, without interruption;
80:25
a. that WE let the rain water pour down abundantly,
80:26
a. then split open the land,
80:27
a. and thus cause the grain to sprout out of it,
80:28
a. together with grapevines and clovers;
80:29
a. and olives and date-palms,
80:30
a. and gardens/orchards densely planted,
80:31
a. and fruit trees and pastures,
80:32
a. to be a source of provision for both: you and your livestock.
80:33
a. So when the Frightening Blast will be sounded heralding the Resurrection -
80:34
a. - the Time when human being will wish to flee from his own brother,
80:35
a. and from his own mother and his own father,
80:36
a. as well as from his own spouse and his own children.
80:37
a. For, during that Time, every person will be careless about the others as he will be preoccupied with himself.
80:38
a. At that Time, some faces will be radiant and beaming with happiness,
80:39
a. laughing and rejoicing at their successful end.
80:40
a. While, at the same Time, some faces will be covered with dust,
80:41
a. Color of remorse and gloom will cover them.
80:42
a. These faces will be of the disbelievers, these sinful people.
